Super Rugby AU Team of the Week

Uh huh

Alfred Walker (16)
Haha, imagine scoring two tries (one which is a contender TOTY), playing the full 80, making 3(!) clean breaks, beat 6 defenders and finish on a run metres total a fullback would be proud of all to lose your spot to a player who dropped it twice out of his 17 passes in his 30 minute cameo. White beat 1 defender, made 0 clean breaks and 0 run metres. Take the glasses off mate.

If that performance didn't lock McDermott in for the #9 gold jersey in game one this year, there is no justice in this world.

An absolute clinic.

If I might indulge in selecting one slightly left field Brumbies player it would be Cadeyrn Neville. I don't think his impact on the performance of the entire pack can be overstated, particularly in the set piece. The Brumbies went from being bossed in the scrum and consistently ballsing up their lineout to using both as attacking and defensive weapons in the space of a fortnight. He was very active in the ruck as well, and arguably the Brumbies' MVP for the round.

Thought JOC (James O'Connor), McDermott and Tupou were the best in the first game, Simone, Wright and Samu in the second. Had the hardest time picking Loose heads and Fullbacks as no one really stood out. Could've had Campbell on the bench instead of Hegarty for balance, but I think Hegarty probably had the better game.

Big call on Dempsey over Wilson. Very big. I was tempted. Also thought Hanigan could have made his way into this TOTW.

Agree, he did plenty of good things too but those errors shouldn't be forgotten. He takes the win over Hooper who had a solid but unspectacular game. Miller and Koteka were invisible.

It is worthwhile to note Rugbypass (where I got the original stats) has vastly different numbers to yours for McReight. They have 59 run meters, 12 runs, 0 clean breaks, 3 defenders beaten, 1 offload, 13 tackles, 1 turnover won.

For comparison Hooper had 10 run meters, 8 runs, 0 clean breaks, 1 defender beaten, 1 offload, 11 tackles, 2 turn overs won. 0 turnovers, 0 conceded penalties, 0 missed tackles.

I think the RugbyPass stats are a little off, Hooper is credited with 18 run metres on ESPN and rugby.com.au. I assume Fraser also has higher stats on those sites.
