Super Rugby AU Round 6 - Waratahs vs Reds @ SCG, Saturday 8 August 2020

The Tahs have to win this one to keep their season alive. If they play like they did against the Brumbies, the home ground advantage should get them home. If they play like they did against the Rebels, they'll lose by 30.

Hopefully the week off has refreshed them and they can have a real crack in this game.

I'm worried that the Reds gave everything against the Brumbies and won't be up for this game.

Hopefully :)

I might be biased, but the competition needs the Tahs to win this one to keep it open. Otherwise we'll be pretty much locked in to the Brumbies finishing first and the Reds and Rebels playing the 2 vs 3 playoff to qualify for the final which wouldn't be the best position to be in with 4 rounds still to go.

The Rebel's rush defence took their time away and they were bad, so many mistakes

The Reds need to win. Need to stake a claim. On form you'd have to call them favourites.

Reds need to win to make sure last weeks effort wasn't in vein. They need to stay in second spot on the ladder.

Can't see the Reds sitting down for a game against the Tahs. Reds really should win this with relative ease.

Yep, this.

Not of this world to think the Reds will be going into this like 'just another game.'

Lads will be frothing at the corners.

I hope we destroy the Waratahs season, and keep ours buoyant.

Sully I reckon the Reds will have taken a lot out of the Brumbies game and will front up for this game with a lot of confidence. Can't see an upset.

Against the Brumbies was the first time the Reds attack started to resemble our pre-COVID attack. If we can build and keep our defence on point will be very hard to beat.

Or just fix our discipline & lineout and win by a thousand.

I have to say though that one of the really good things with the Super AU games is that almost every game has been in the balance until the end. Even when it hasn’t been champagne rugby it’s still been pretty compelling IMO.

We’ll see if Swinton can repeat his round 1 effort.

I actually think it's our D that is the kicker here. First time we met NSW in this comp their rush was (strangely and unexpectedly) impressive. Defense will win this match I think. And Reds rush was amazing agin Brumbies.

Hold it together and we've got this.

I am confident that the Reds can consider that as a training run for the new combinations and will get better and will smash the Tahs.

Petaia to score three tries now he is back in the game.

Zander to continue his improvement and begin to dominate his opponent and make the reds scrum even better

QLD Hookers to get to a season high 10% straight throws to dominate at least 1 lineout

We copped a couple of injuries out of the Brumbies game, wondering how they'll pull up. CFS seems like long odds, particularly given Petaia can slot straight in, but I know Campbell also went for scans on a bicep injury, they're hoping it's just a cork. Hegarty is solid at fullback but it's definitely a step down in attack.

Anyone have any more up to date news?

Do we expect Petaia to start? Honestly excited to see some solid minutes from him. Feels like I've seen him in a total of 40 minutes of game time.

With potential injuries to both CFS and Campbell I think he has to

Haha! TBF though, BPA while not perfect managed much better than that. The big issues weren't until he was subbed off.

What does the Border closure mean to this game? Or future games? Will the Qld players have to stay in NSW for the rest of the comp or are there some sort of provisions in place which exempt them from the restrictions?
