I think Bruce is talking about the original incident. I sincerely hope there aren't two

I'm all for kids coming to the game and can't wait till my kids are old enough. But one thing I hate is the flags they give the kids. The amount of times I have been flicked in the head and eye once from sitting behind them. It bloody dangerous. And hurts like fuck, security should keep eye on that one.

Bruce I am extremely dissapointed. I have always found your posts inciteful and factual. To have you put up a post that is not only incorrect but also snide is demeaning of you. Sorry I will no longer look at your posts the same way. I thought you were above that.

Just sent this off to Suncorp stadium via their website, I just don't think the removal was acceptable.

"To whom it may concern,
I recently attended a Reds game at Suncorp stadium on Saturday the 3rd of March 2012. Whilst I found Suncorp Stadium to be a great venue in terms of capacity, comfort and other services, I was very disappointed with the manner in which the security at the stadium treated the patrons. One enthusiastic supporter was sitting in section 314 and had been firing the crowd up the entire game to support the team, starting chants and the like. However in the 75th minute the patron was removed by police, seemingly at the order of one of the ushers whom had been talking to him. I had several issues with this, notably:

i) The patron had actually done nothing wrong as far as I'm aware. There was no disorderly behaviour, there was no harassment occuring, there was no real reason to evict him. From my observations it appeared as though he was removed simply because the usher had taken a dislike to his support. If the reason for his removal is because the 'Mexican wave' was being started by him then I would like to know, but I still strongly believe it was a fallacious decision to remove the customer.

ii) The behaviour was causing absolutely no problem for the crowd. Patrons are supposed to be removed because they are being 'Antisocial' and preventing others from enjoying themselves. I think I speak for everyone in the vicinity of the area in saying that this particular patrons actions where passionate, respectful and dignified; no one in the crowd had an issue with the person, and if they did they where in a very small minority. In fact, as he was removed, he recieved an ovation from nearly everyone nearby.

Hence, what was the actual reason for this patron being removed? Who was responsible for it? I was offended, indeed embarassed that the situation came to fruitition in which he was removed. There is a large community online, in sites such as Greenandgoldrugby.com that where also heavily offended by the decision. Could a member of stadium management please reasonably justify what happened.

Sincerely,
Harry Spicer"

Fucken kidding me, removed from the stadium in the 75th minute. What a joke, you only have a hour to get out of the stadium after the game. Then they start kicking you out.

Well said mate but I suspect you will receive a bullshit answer back from them.

I have had a huge problem with the staff at Suncorp for years. They go out of their way to take the fun out of any event. The gentleman on Saturday did nothing wrong except break an ill-conceived no Mexican wave ruling some pencil pusher passed years ago. apparently Mexican Wave are dangerous and should be rubbed out at all costs.

Last season there was a group of about 5 guys who every week would come along and have a few drinks sing songs and support there team. Until they fell fowl of the storm police at suncorp. Apparently their singing was annoying the other patrons. this was complete bull we all loved their passion. It was some tool on a power trip.

5 years ago I got into trouble for abusing a guy for continually standing in front of me and Gill. Gill is 5"2 and if people stand she can't see a thing. After a half and 10 minutes of politely asking him to sit down I let fly and told to sit the fuck down or I would knock his block off. Within minutes I was in trouble for stirring trouble and he was scott free.

I have been moved off the concourse for spending 5 minutes talking to a friend I haven't seen in years while watching the game because "Suncorp is a seating only stadium."

Any regular patron of the Stadium will give you similar stories of the staff treating the punters with total disrespect. There is a huge void between making it a safe place for the public to watch a game and the sit in your seat and watch the game and don't do anything else attitude that the Stadium has. I can do that at home! The joy of watching live sport is to share the fun and passion of those around us. Suncorp Stadium Is determined to stop that from happening.

Don't even start me on not being able to walk on the hallow turf after the game and the $8000 fine that they think is justified to stop us.

I am Gill and I am 5'3"! I hate the balloons, balls, the Mexican wave and it makes people stand or throw up their hands and shit and block my view and I pay to see the GAME and players not penis heads who are bored because they either have the attention span of fish or lack the understanding of the game.
I choose to pay my money to have seats close to the game and the players not have to worry about numtys who drink too much and don't take into account the others around them.
Stay at home and drink yourself into oblivion. It is only 90mins at the most.

Yes the security is a little over exuberant at times and yes I would like to go onto the field, like at the Waratah's game last week. I yell alot at the game, ask any of the members that sat around me for the last 5 years and I have got a hallo each game even from 5 rows away. Most of my yelling is followed by a smile. It is how you support your team that is important. Now that I have had a rant, Go the Reds

He said he made a mistake and took it back on page 1. What is this?

How can you be too loud at a rugby game? I'm a very quiet person most of the time, but I shout and sing my head off at the rugby.

Also how can you hear an individual fan at a game? Here even sitting beside each other we have to shout or lip read to say something to each other most of the time. Only time you can hear anyone is the odd dickhead who shouts while someone is lining up a penalty, but they're normally shushed pretty quickly.

However if someone is being a general dick, peeing on seats or whatever then security have every right to throw them out.

They started giving away flags this year at the Tahs home games. Relatively big ones at that...60x40cm plus the stick that goes with it...will be annoying sitting near anyone who waves the thing during the match, especially if they get in your eye. But being the Tahs, should not be hard to move to another seat nearby. :D

The flags looked great. All the sky blue around the stadium when they scored or when something good happened is a positive thing. Better than those flash for cash things they gave out for the last few years.

I nearly had my eye taken out by one at the Tahs v Reds game at ANZ last year. And we were in corporate boxes.

To digress to the story...The first guy (two rows in front, and rather well dressed) threw it at the (very drunk) young (late teens / early twenties) second guy behind him because the second guy behind him was just yelling, being abusive, basically being a general idiot. So his solution was to throw his flag, like a child (and it wasn't the only thing he threw, either), nearly take out my eye then complain to security after being nearly as abusive.

This is where I had my run in with stadium staff. After the first guy two boxes in front tries to get the second guy permanently banned (and by now the second guy had been forced to leave by about the 70th minute mark by the rest of the people in his box to avoid the inevitable run in with security), I went and spoke with the head of security in the area to complain about the first guy throwing stuff in retaliation and hitting me instead. The head of security wanted nothing to do with my compaint, and basically dismissed me after refusing to believe the well-dressed first guy threw anything, and instead got buddy with the very well dressed juvenile thrower by demanding the second guy's name from the other people in the box so he could be banned thereafter.

The bottom line is: stadium staff are lowly paid security who act first and think second. If they are doing something, like throwing someone out (rightly or wrongly), they've already made up their minds and are not going to relent, no matter how right or wrong they are.

I thought the Sky blue where the 1000's of empty seats...:)

I encounter no problems in the corporate suites, staff very obliging, no flags, banners, balls or tools. Staff always let us stay until there is nothing left in the fridge, in fact there have been times we have been locked in.

A mate of mine got moved of the concourse 2 minutes before half time - he was just waiting for the half to finish so that he didn't get in anyone's way in getting back to his seat!
