He was about 55 and not a big guy and any kind of altercation that arose by pushing the issue would have looked like you were beating up an old man...

Sometimes it is the ones you least expect - a group of us copped a fair bit from a very welsh-sounding person at the FRAvWAL semi, but for the life of me I couldn't pick where it was coming from. Coming down the stairs at the end of the game, I got a shove in the side and "I'll be waiting for you, you pack of c**ts" from the source: 60-odd, tiny, tweeds and flat cap...

Difficult situation. Personally the mexican wave anoys the crap out of me. I am there to watch the rugby. I thought it was interesting that someone was even trying to start it on the weekend. Although it wasn't the best game it wasn't mexican wave boring. Generally I find the crowds alright at Suncorp. Yep the over zealous move on on the concorse does get a bit anoying, particularly if you a waiting for someone, or like mentioned above, just waiting for the appropiate time/break to return to your seat without disturbing to many people. I think that the security personel are in a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. Behave yourself, do the right thing and there will not be an issue.

I think people are overestimating the damage swearing does to kids. Unless it's a personal brutal rant, with a high decibel and in your face demaneour, it's really not much of a problem. I went to the Reds V Tahs in 2006 and I was only 11 at the time and I joined in that Wendells a wanka chant, it was all part of the fun... If your kids are under 10 I'm sure it's a bit of a problem but so long as it's not directed at YOU then it shouldn't be a major obstruction.

My big issue was that it was a shitty game, and the mexican wave was out of want to support the team. The guy wasnt shitty at the game, he wanted to support. Why would you throw someone like that out when they haven't offended the crowd?

EDIT:

Got a reply back:

Dear Mr Spicer,

Thank you for providing me with this information.

I am currently obtaining information from all parties including the police regarding this incident.

Once I have investigated the issue I will come back to you.

Kind Regards

Never any need for bad language. I hate the thought of families not going to the rugby because they are worried about the clown factor. It is just not healthy for the game. I love the passion the fans show but it can all be done with clean language.

Karl, congratulations on handling that situation perfectly and setting a good example for the young fellas.
