Players unavailable for selection: Angus Bell – Toe (Season)

Dylan Pietsch – Quad (Round 4-5)

Tiaan Tauakipulu – Knee (Round 6+)

Seems that they are opting for a fair bit of rotation. Otherwise it is hard to work out why Holz and Latu are out of the 23 in particular.

We see your HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) and raise you an Eloff.

Great to see the big man back. Talakai concussed apparently. Backrow looks good with Kemeny back too. Don't know what Tuttle has to do to get a start. Would love to see Ekuasi get some proper minutes too.

I like how Tuttle controlled the game when coming on last week, I'm not sure Louwrnes would have that same control coming on late.

I think the Rebels can win this, if they keep with them then the bench can play a roll.

That selection raises a number of issues:

Johnson-Holmes is back. That is HUGE for us, the scrum has not been as strong as we need it to be, especially against the NZ teams. He gets one week to get up to speed.
This would have been the ideal week to rest Porecki, start Latu and bench Vailunu. Porecki has to miss three games some time, because of his Wallaby season. Next week we have got the Canes, the week after the Chiefs who at this stage are the strongest team in the comp. The next two weeks are not for experimenting, this week was the week to try some things. To get Porecki three rests probably means the Force, Drua and Moana. What if Latu or Vailanu are injured those weeks?
Sinclair is clearly a favourite. I don't see that he's got more potential than Seu, who could be top rate if he applied himself better.
I would have started Hanigan and had Sinclair and Seu on the bench so that Hanigan could be replaced early if he gets a niggle. Next two weeks we need Hanigan and Holloway to start.
This was the week to rest Hooper for one of his three enforced rest breaks. Gamble is on fire, we don't lose much playing him instead, we may live to regret this later in the season if Gamble picks up an injury.
I like that Wilson is getting some time debuting off the bench instead of Goddard. From what I saw in the trials he has a big future.
Harrison is not available yet or maybe just not selected? As potentially the best of the three young tens his absence is concerning. He seems to be the most physically brittle.

Its a very strong team that should do the Rebels, though probably not by a lot. But its the lost opportunities I regret

Based on the team announcement, Harrison and Walton were available for selection. The 6/2 split with essentially two 10s in the starting XV does mean they really have to pick an outside back in the 23 shirt.

Respect for DC. While I may think other changes are necessary, he’s not all over the place with his selections and I get the feeling he’s building. Being very reserved rather than shaking it up.
Glad Rugbys back. Happy to be along for the ride.

He may be a fan of Ben Darwin analytics.

I always hated the way Rennie would chop and change the wallabies.

Pick a team. Only drop if you’re forced to or people deserve to be dropped.

Don't think any Rebels are due back this weekend. Maybe the runaway Cabous? Could be useful to test out the promising but inexperienced 'Tahs front row.

Don't think Rebels have much of a chance. Would love to see Monty Ioane show Jorgensen how the big boys play but I fear if Max can handle the Drua wingers he'll be fine.
Havn't been blown away by Monty just yet. Seemed to lack top end pace in that semi break he made against the Hurricanes.
