Is the 7s Tournament above only for Indigenous Players ?
Any updates on Coaches for 2022 ? have been reading that several clubs were searching for coaches this season
As far as I’m aware, it’s open to all comers.

I don’t really have my finger on the pulse as far as Coaches go. I need to put my Facey stalker hat on and mine some mail from the club pages.

Or if anyone wants to post that jazz here, let it singggggg

2022 season is rapidly approaching ! Down to 3 weeks to go now . City has had a hit out against Albury and Melbourne Unicorns and is off to Goulburn this weekend. First grade coach seemed happy with the results from that first trial .

Any other club trials out in the zone ?

On the subjct of local boys doing good , Dylan McLachlan has made his way into the Brumbies runners squad . Although he didnt get a run on saturday , the very fact that he is in the mix speaks volumes for his ability and the fact that you can make it from clubland .

Did Stu play for Sydney Uni? I remember coaching Max when he was 12 in the Riverina PSSA team. Griffith is playing Leeton tomorrow in a trial. Blacks set for a good season. Very interesting to see how Phantoms perform.

Did you go Paul?

No I didn’t Bandar. Other side of town from me & no bar facilities. Just talking about the men’s team I heard that Phantoms went alright but didn’t bring many more players than the basic team. I mean as the season grinds on you almost need 2 teams to keep 1 team on the paddock. Have they got anymore teams nominated other than 1st grade in the men’s division?

Our boys had a good old fashioned hit out with Goulburn Reds on weekend. Quite an epic bus trip home as well I gather !

City Girls are off to Yass this weekend for a trial game . Numbers have been good for them so hopefully that can translate onto the field.

Any word on other trial games ?

Going from just having a 3rd grade team to a 1st & 2nds team in one season is a pretty big jump Reasoning. Hopefully the Phantoms can do it.

Hey peeps, good to see some chat around the 2022 Season!!

I spent the weekend down at Ulladulla with the SSA boys and girls, there is some solid local talent coming through the ranks which is awesome to see!

I'm trying to get my head around the 2022 GMG (it's been a while since I've been through the GMG). I feel like there will be some fairly considerable impacts on the game with these changes. Have you guys got any thoughts on the 2022 GMG?

Major Differences
Flying Wedge - 2 or more pre-bound to ball carrier before contact.
Pre-Latched player must stay on feet or get out of the way immediately.
50-22 this is going to be a challenge in lower grades without good assistance from ARs.
Goal Line Dropout - Going to take some getting use to. When is it? Where does defence stand? What happens if GLD goes out on the full? etc..

Good to see the SIRRA boss getting around City & Tahs training on tuesday night. I believe other refs having been getting to other clubs as well? It was a good and very worthwhile chat and he advises referee ranks have increased which is great news for the zone . The less reliance of CTA's the better I feel.

Smart teams will take advantage of the 50/22 law change to put real pressure on . I am not so sure about the goal line drop out . I feel it lets teams under the pump off the hook and denies attacking teams the chance for a set piece play. But people smarter than me have made that rule !

Roll on next weekend . Roll on actually being able to train on our ground !!

The Flying Wedge has been illegal for yonks.

I like the pre-latch having the get out of there. Either be effective or let someone else have a dig.

I feel like the 50-22 is similar to the "out on full from 22m" of years gone by? ie Can't pass back inside and kick, unless there is a ruck formed?

GLD is a total change!! I would imagine defenders need to be back 10m (GMG doesn't clarify that). I would expect the likely outcome from a GLD that goes out on the full will be a quick lineout by the attacking team, but agree the GMG needs to clarify (or direct users to the LOTG) what happens here. I would expect the laws to be the same as any other incorrect re-start though

Sanction line for a Goal Line drop out is the 5 metre line. Shown in the picture accompanying Law 12.

I'm new to the Zone and hoping to Ref some matches this season

Ref's President is killing it at the moment and looks like all 1st Round matches will have a Referee appointed which means no Clubs To Appoint (CTA's). I'm told its a lot Different to last year when Referee numbers were very ordinary

Well done TP

Welcome to the fold @Folkus and great work putting your hand up to ref. I’m also hearing good things out of SIRRA in preparation for the season which is fantastic for all levels of the game!
