he is playing with brown and hodgo who are both non international standard players, he should be all over them.

Multiple opensides playing together don't 'compete' with each other : they spread the workload systemically.

there multiple utility players though, brown and hodgo shouldnt be able to compete if pocock was half the man the hard on brigade around here thought he was.

WJ, were you going to suggest Tom Carter as the number 7? :)
Why would you play the country's best 12 at 7, this better be a joke!

Giteau's far too small to play anywhere in the forwards. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I expect Carter to get a lot of splinters sitting on the bench next season for the Tahs, as I can't see him making the starting side.

Unless Beale gets dropped again..

Unlikely,

A backline of

9 Burgess
10 Barnes
11 Anesi
12 Beale
13 Horne
14 Mitchell
15 Turner

looks most likely

He can play the last 30 mins against the Reds, when the 5 points have been locked up.

You mean the 5 points from the Tahs' average of 1 try per game?

Much better backline next year, IMO. I reckon they'll play a better style with Barnes and without LT. Plus Anesi and Mitchell. How could we not score tries?

Don't answer that.

I honestly think our two biggest problems last season was SNK only kicking on return (and badly) and Carter perennially crash balling.

Next season we should have some serious kick return options a 10 who will control the game and a guy at 12 who will pass.

Don't think Anesi will perform to the level people expect. Hope to be proven wrong, but I doubt it.

Who knows, the defensive miracle T. Carter may get the starting 12 again next year! I hear the waratahjeebus is salivating at the prospect right now.

As much as scarfy will hate me to say it, I agree with fatprop that SNK at fullback was a bit of a failure. No counter, stuggled to break the line, couldn't break a tackle and couldn't do what he does best (dish out the ball) from that position.

At least Mitchell, Turner and Anesi are all quick runners of the ball. Two ball players at 10 and 12 (Barnes and Hangers/BealeCarter) will favour those guys.

The only thing lacking in that backline will be size, but at S14 you can get away with it most games.

Stick carter there and it doesn't matter who is on the outside, Horne suffered this season from being stuck out side him

It would be nice if he occasionally broke a tackle with all the 'crash balling' he does.. Every time he does this though it's like throwing a wet sock at a brick wall.

If he ever does get lucky enough to be gifted a try, he jumps up with the most ridiculous celebration like he's Monkey trying to summon his fucking cloud! :angryfire:

I really don't think I can face another season of him butchering the Tahs backline...

Hey wj, I know you're pleased with the M"P"S award, and are keen to back up in 2010. But why not build your campaign slowly? Desire outruns performance, and all that.

I thought you guys were taking the piss for a minute there. Carter played mostly off the bench. How the hell did he sabotage the Tah backline ? By tackling everything that moved ? By being the only back to chase kicks, commit to the breakdown, and run straight & hard ?

Bring on the sarcasm, blah blah Tom Carter is the greatest defensive back in the game because he kills the attacking play of both teams. ::)

i dont do things for the glory, glory just comes to me.
'campaign' would mean i was actually trying.
tom carter offers something no other 12 in this country does.
the tahs are the only team that even threatened to make the finals at the end of the day.
are these two things a mere coincidence, i think not my friends!

Really? I thought he only went to the bench once Beale was brought back in at 12. Either way, the Tahs were fucked with either Carter or Hangers starting every game. I think Carter should re-invent himself as a 13 and move to the Force. Cross will be retiring soon, there aren't that many 13's running around, and that position suits his game a lot more IMO.

Tahs backline hasn't had any chemistry for years. Fans complain the problem is we don't get it wide enough. We did, only to end up with Turner et al knocking it on or kicking pill away. I don't get why Carter gets scapegoated.

Nick Cummins is the best 13 at the Force and should be starting over Cross.
