Shute Shield 2020

There was a big unit doing touch duties (sorry - Assistant Referee) at Coogee today.
I think it was Dylan Sigg.
If so, good on him for reffing post playing days.

Wicks missing some key players yesterday --- Longbottom, Miller, Poidevin.
Added to Tauakipulu, Hutchinson and Croke all with long term injuries, I believe.
But still could have won with better goal kicking.

Interesting that the 2 ex-Wicks players (Stoltz and Edmed) contributed 18 of Woods points and both played well against their old club.

Some potential big ins:

Uni: Gordon, Bell, HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes), Talakai, Swinton, Robertson, Horton
Wicks: Harrison, Hanigan, Short, Ramm, Donaldson
Gordon: Walton, Hunt, Dempsey, Abel
Easts: Staniforth, Harris, Maddocks
Norths: Sinclair, Clark, Tafa
Souths: Holloway, Faulkner

Eastwood don't gain anyone.. ouch.

You'd say Uni bringing in that front row alone would make them favs.

The key is understanding of Wallabies squad members will be playing Shute Shield. If they aren't and the squad is as large as reported (46) you'd think that a fair number of those blokes make that squad.

Warringah are coach killers. That is the third game they failed to close out and take the W. Uni and Randwick the other 2 games.

They had 2 minutes to play to hold a 4 point lead. Souths kick long, and they go wide and get stripped Souths score in the corner after the bell. Should have held the ball and trucked it up tight and run the clock down.

Fantastic game, worth watching the the Cluch TV replay

Edited. I was replying to qwertys post but it was dribble.

Basically if the Wallabies squad members aren't able to play Shute Shield the inclusions from the tahs might be minimal

All good. My thoughts are they shouldnt anyway. Or at least limit the inclusion of these players.

Seems we have an pretty even comp and we should keep it that way

Games for 5 Sept

Souths v Easts
Norths v Eastwood
Randwick v Gordon
Manly v Warringah
Uni v Wests
WSTB v Penrith

All but one of those games could go either way.

Wests might struggle against Uni.

I fancy Manly against the Rats this week. They've been as inconsistent as we have.

West H are improving, they started with 30 point losses in first 3 rounds, but have tightened up against some better opposition up to last outing 22-12 loss to Undefeated Gordon.

I dont think they will beat Uni but recent form suggests it wont be a blow out
