2016 Gregor George Cup (Club Championship) Watch:
(after Round 10*)

There are a maximum of 215 points available to a club each week, based on all 7 club teams winning with a 4 try BP and the target to win is >3000 points which was achieved by 3 clubs in 2014 and the 2015 winner was on 2905 points. In 2014 the difference between 1st and 2nd was only 33 points, with 3rd only 52 points further back. In 2015 there was only 49 points between 1st and 2nd, with 3rd place 113 points further back.

*Sydney University, 1675 points
Randwick, 1586 points
Eastern Suburbs, 1522 points
Eastwood, 1507 points
Southern Districts, 1362 points
Warringah, 1296 points
Northern Suburbs, 1270 points
Manly, 1224 points
Gordon, 798 points
West Harbour, 632 points
*Parramatta, 546 points
Penrith, 47 points

How the Club Championship table is calculated.
The competition points from the individual competitions are multiplied by the following factors and then added together.
First Grade - 15
Second Grade - 8
Third Grade - 5
Fourth Grade - 4
Colts 1 - 6
Colts 2 - 3
Colts 3 - 2

The 49 point difference between Gold and Silver in 2015 could have been made up from an extra 3 BP in Shute Shield and an extra BP in 4th Grade, or an extra victory with a BP in 2nd Grade and an extra BP in Colts 1 and Colts 2.
http://rugby.fusesport.com/rugby/results/external/summaryladder.asp?ladder=1167&OrgID=010100

* Provisional score as 2 x The Corporation v M2B games yet to be officially added to the web site.
Pretty sure that The Corporation will get an extra 92 points (2 wins with no BP in First and Second Grade), and M2B will get an extra 23 points (<7 point BP in both First and Second Grade) based on scores from Twitter.

The better team might of lost but marlins sloppy today. no killer instinct to finish their breaks. Pili-Gaitau was a standout along with Turner at 15 scrum was dominant but lineout was sloppy. Easts never really gave in which was to be expected at home and marlins were probably slightly flat after last week. Didn't help losing bergelin pregame. Good kick from easts flyhalf to win the game who was one of their better players along with their big islander winger. Perry at 7 was noticable, looked good. Not the worlds best game, but good crowd good atmosphere. Pretty confident marlins will get them by 10 at home in 2 weeks. Off to beat down those shoreman next week at village green in between however.

I rated the performance by the Easts 10 today as well ; King ? Easts have really built well over the past few years and results through the grades today attest to this . Agree that Manly in 2 weeks time it will be different. Can't recall when Marlins were so far down in CC.

I thought our make shift forward pack one the scrum battle, and the loose yesterday - it shouldn't be missed that John Baranyi stepped up from 3rd the week before, and we had a prop playing second row, also the loss of Bergelin before kick off to force these changes didn't help.

Thought Dennis, and Junior were our best today.

Still think the team that performed the best lost - but that's rugby.

My prediction of a Two Blues upset didn't come through.
The boys played well and were leading early in the game.

Uni were rock solid in defence and capitalised on any mistakes Parra made.
Well done Uni on the win, was a good game to watch.

I too thought/hoped the MTB would get up in this one. Not far off that prediction. They've had a good few weeks, hope they can keep it going (excpet when they play Manly of course):)

Low quality game of football on display for 7two match of the day. Wicks outright worst performance of the season by some distance. Norths deserve credit but they were not great either. A lot of dropped ball and a lot of penalties all on a day of beautiful sunshine and a big ladies day crowd at the proud North Sydney Oval. We were all waiting for the game to open up and see some points scored by either team but it was just an old fashioned ugly scramble. Even the return of Hanigan couldn't inspire the wicks. Any other thoughts on the game those who attended or watched? Wicks lost 12-10 well done shoreman

Remarkedly similar to last year's game which was probably the Wicks worst game of the year as well. Norths seem to have the ability to put the Wicks off their attacking game. Norths certainly managed to string together phases whereas the Wicks struggled to keep the ball for more than 3 or 4 phases and often turned it over on the first or second phase. I guess we need to keep in mind that the Wicks were without Anderson, Frost and Boileau (all injured) and Roods (dropped and now injured?) from the backline which has performed well all year. Some pretty ordinary kicks without any obvious purpose didn't help either. Credit to Norths for executing a simple but effective game plan --- move up and bustle in defence, solid scrums and lineouts, and move the balll wide at every opportunity to avoid the Wicks forwards. Three losses in the last 5 games, by 2 points (twice) and 7 points. Big game next weekend against Souths!

What a good game Uni vs Parra was.

Our defence was rock solid. Parra literally threw everything at us for that whole 2nd half. And we defended well.

Parra are MASSIVE. They pushed our scrum around and were impressive in lineout and set piece as well as a very physical outfit.

Some of the guys said they were pretty happy to walk away with the victory points as that was harder then they imagined.

Well done to Parra on a great game and a great day of rugby.

And awesome to have us back on the top of the ladder. What a close season this has been so far.

The Year of The West.

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda beaten Randi-Wix, now they push The Corporation to the wire.

'Tis only a matter of time until it all clicks for the M2B and they start the rise up the ladder, as they have shown that they can compete with the best.

Another rivalry game this week Norths head down to show the marlins how to play for 80mins .Just have to hung on for 60min then come over the top of them.
Lucky for the MMM that they dont have to face Uni , Wicks , Woods again this season otherwise no chance of a playing in the finals.
Here comes the Red and Blacks

The way that Norths held the Wicks out could mean it may be a good game. Hoping that they work on some of the errors from last week. They made some good turnovers, only to lose possession through silly handling errors.
