The Hobbits have come here to play.

Woodies unable to get any momentum going so far.

George Ayoub would have awarded that Try to the Hobbits #15.:)

Manly v Eastwood next week. GF a week early. Will this be at Manly? Uni will not bring in players next week unless they want to bolster their 2nd grade, however watch what their team will be if they make the GF!

Yes, last year the ref allowed the woodies back line to play way offside in the marlins back line and they bagged a number of intercepts. Let's hope the ref and touchies keep them honest.

If the Woodies got up yesterday it would have been Manly V Rats on Saturday and 1st place if successful gets the 7 days break - fair enough.

And the Sunday game was to be played - well there was an oval set aside for it - yeah (It has been TG in recent years) - trusting that oval is still available for the Uni V Souths game to be played on Sunday.

Or if it is to be Uni Oval for Uni V Souths maybe some of their time management skills can orchestrate the oval for Sunday given they orchestrate so well.

Uni 1s should have plenty of fresh reserves this weekend after the Highlanders bundled their 2nds out ;)

Any thoughts on the Catchpole Medal winner?
I'll throw up Harry Bergelin, Jed Holloway, Ben Batger and Tom Hill as possibles. Jai Ayoub and Jock Merriman might not have played enough games, but have been very impressive IMO.

I know this is a rugby thread, and we are in winter. But seriously what is the go here Uni have talked up there professional corporation for a number of years now - off to TG then on Sunday.

Plus a game of rugby is played on the grass not up in the stand.

Holloway would have to be a massive chance I would have thought.

BTW, how good were Souths yesterday! That was a really outstanding game, enjoyed it immensely. Two ripper semis coming up.

Id have Porecki, and Sefiana in there as well but it is often difficult when points are shared within a club

What does Sydney Uni water polo have to do with Shute Shield rugby?

Answer its AGM in the Uni grandstand is seen as sufficient reason for the corporation to (try and) move their game v Souths to the Saturday and thereby disadvantage the minor premiers of a ful 7 day break between semi and GF . Marlins have been widely promoting the Saturday game to a true rugby community .

What a farce - watch this space . The spies say the Manly board are livid .This is true test of fairness and the SRU board standing up and being counted .

Games i watched on the weekend were played on grass, what does a meeting up in a grand stand have to do with it.

The galah vowed to remain silent until after the GF and now posts with some trepidation given MMM's opponents this weekend but denying Manly ,as minor premiers, the Saturday game to suit Uni's convenience (around water polo) would be an outrage. Hopefully the SRU will show some backbone and require them to play on Sunday if need be at a neutral and probably better drawing venue anyway . I'm sure the ABC does not care either way

What a joke. Once again the powers that be bend over for the usual suspects. 24 hours can be the difference when dealing with minor injury, but hey why bother with fairness.

Has this been confirmed? What a preposterous, contemptuous decision if so. Sydney Uni have failed to ensure availability of their home ground when it was very clear it might be required of them - and as a result they are awarded with an advantage that should be conferred on the Minor Premiers? Hang your head in shame NSW Rugby Union. Uni must be made play on Sunday, whether at a neutral venue or surrounded by Water Polo enthusiasts. Farcical.

Dave, in the Manly games I've seen this year I found it very hard to single out any individual, the whole team just seemed to be performing at the same high level. But you've obviously seen a lot more than me.

Do you really think a hooker could win given the problems front rows have with referees (or is it the other way around ;))?
