That's an awful list of injury for the Tahs. Not the worst, though - Reds mid-2000s actually have had worse runs of injuries (they've been able to cobble together an actual team with a couple reserves of injured players) - but the sad problem for the Tahs is that it has been in the back half of the season. The exact time you do not want those injuries is as you go into the finals.

It's a credit to the Tahs squad and playing depth that they even made the finals in the first place, but I suspect this one will be a bridge too far. The Blues win was important for their confidence and I think they will lift for this game. In comparison, TPN is irreplaceable for the Tahs, and they are back to their 3rd choice 10 which means they lose their brilliant fullback to a role he fills at a lower level.

Kurtley Beale will win this match for the Tahs.

Then the Sharks will beat the Crusaders, both Aussie teams will win in week 2 and we'll have the first all Australian Grand Final....

waratahs dirty game plan :

#1 . turn up with no props ,......excuse , all our prop are injured ,...... no contest scrum will then be played.
#2 . have no replacement prop on the bench , advise who ever is playing prop , to rocket himself head first into tackles , to knock himself out , if this doesnt work , get timani to take him out , he's a specialist at taking out props , whether he's playing on the same team or not , and if that doesnt go to plan , then fake an injury , the ref will then have no choice , but to apply the no contest scrum.
#3 . identify their main strike weapons and take them out ,......................like vaea did to digby ,
#4 . start a brawl , it may put some of them of their game ,......................................................... or will it fire them up and put 100 on you , lol.

Well I can't say I'm as enthusiastic as I was on saturday night about our prospects but it is what it is and I just want to see them go out there and give it everything.

Although if they do pull out all the stops to win this one I reckon the week after may be just a bridge too far, especially if there happen to be any other injuries which is certainly a possibility.

Go the Tahs!!!

I hope the Tahs go in with all guns blazing but you'd have to put the Blues as favourites, even with their poor form of late. Much as I want the NSW boys to win this weekend, it looks like a very big job, especially at Eden Park.

HUGE blow to the Tahs with Baxter, TPN and Hangers all out. Beale shifts to 10 while Elvis Taione comes onto the bench.

Blues are solid favourites now. Surely the Tahs can't win a final away from home without their first choice 2,3,8,10,11,13,16,17?

Be interesting to see if TPN & Baxter actually do end up missing the game. Not that I am doubting the report on Rugby Heaven but you wonder if there is a bit of mind games being played early in the week?

If Taff plays we are a real shout. If he doesn't I'm very worried for as crap as the blues have been of late he's too important to be missing. Beale at 10 is a bonus though I think.

TPN definitely gone. Having an arthroscopy on what used to be his good knee. Probable meniscal tear.

I must say I have had a bet during my day and knowing with the exclusion of TPN, Auckland victory on the cards by 13+.

The Waratahs will front up and give it everything they've got. But the Blues will be at unbackable odds - some of our team won't even have met before this week and are not even in the wider training squad.

Spot on, Hawko. Our team has got there in spite of the grubs who booed them and those who bagged them because they weren't playing "entertaining rugby".

But we've had an extraordinarily bad run with injuries and the odds are really stacked against our blokes on Friday. Despite this they'll fight to the end, and however it plays out they're entitled to hold their heads high and be proud of what they've achieved.

Bloody hell it's hard being a Blues fan....even when you know you should probably win, you can never be sure......

Yes, I imagine these grubs feel pretty chastened now (the same pathetic, small grub like people whose dollars and interest continue to enable rugby players to enjoy a dreamed about career as a pro-athlete and fuel heir life-style)

Why is the uni hooker not the reserve, is it Roberts? Is he injured or just overlooked?
