He just doesn't have the experience to make that play
How much experience does he need? He's been in the team for years,. He was just a part of the switch-off that happened to most of the guys out there. Too busy trying to deal with our lousy let-them-run defence. And stopped being 'in' the game and ended up watching it.

I think that was a position issue. He didn't realise the ball was going over the top until way too late, he should be advancing as soon as Tuipolutu does and hitting him as soon as he gets the ball. That's his job in that setup. He just doesn't have the experience to make that play
That's where he normally defends in that position, Suualii was still on at that point

And he was right there to make the tackle and was just soft as butter into contact

There's also still this:

"He's got a pretty numb arm, but we're hopeful it's not too bad," Schmidt said.

"But losing Joseph early didn't help."

Sua'ali'i didn't have his arm in a sling after the game, a positive sign for the 21-year-old who has been a revelation for Schmidt and the Wallabies through three Tests in the UK.

Maybe it was just a bad stinger. Same thing happened to him in one of the Roosters' finals (I think) and he played the following week.
I couldn't see anything in the replay that showed his wrist in contact in the tackle, a stinger seems to make more sense

Suallii did look like he was out to murder someone. Not surprised he hurt himself in the process. He definitely needs to work on the controlled aggression/tackle technique thing.

That said I do enjoy seeing someone with that mentality playing for the Wallabies. Feel like we have really lacked that killer edge in recent years.

If we had our time over again, it would be interesting to see what an Ikitau/Flook midfield with JAS on the wing would look like. Jorgo and Kells on the wings leaves us a little light on.

He playing a really different role at the moment.

He hasn't been the winger who rotates into the key defender role in the backline. That's been Pietsch, Koro, Daugunu. Mostly whoever is on the other wing from Kellaway.

I thought that was exactly why we used him ie a dual fullback role. I have never heard this sbefore Strewth and if true seems a strange way to use an ex fullback.

But few here wanted Swain or Swinton to play for the Wallabies, a couple called for a permanent ban on them as too aggressive. Yet look at how NZ deal with Scott Barrett or SA with Etzebeth. They know that an overly aggressive youngster will grow into a controlled aggression player, we don't.

He had an absolute barry and surely cannot start against ireland with that performance.
So he missed around one third of his tackles and you want to bin him, yet in the England match Sua'ali'i missed half his tackles and was apparently a god. Even in the thirty minutes in this match he attempted around four of five, made one or two, injured himself in another by leading with the shoulder, and had two other shoulder charges - the first one of which he shoud have been penalised for. He gave away a penalty for being way offside in defence even after the Ref yelled at him at least twice to stop. At the moment he is possibly the team's biggest defensive liability, although this will hopefully improve with time once he can eradicate his League instincts..

Williams aside, I think his comments on BPA, Tizzano and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) particularly are on point. Wilson was in everything but still finds it difficult to break thge line and his handling could be better.

The game changer was Tate's hairbrained cross field kick to Tuipoluto.

There is still a big difference in the territory gains we make from penalties as compared with most of our opponents. It wasn't until the last couple of minutes in the game that Donaldson made about 50m with a penalty kick. Otherwise, in most games, we are lucky to average 20m territory gain. Puts us at a disadvantage right from the get go.
Yes Lolesio kicked poorly I thought particularly with his line kicking. We really struggled to exit our half at times. Compared to Russell, Lolesio was only gaining minimal distance with his kicks. Donaldson’s roost 50m downfield was a beauty.

Lolesio has a very weak boot for international standards

I suspect Lolesio looks best on the training paddock and when the pack is going forward. When everything is average or worse he is a liability as last night proved. It was not him who lost the game for us that is down to the pack.

Just as most 10s look good behind a good pack, most 10s also look rubbish behind a rubbish pack.

We've seen over the past couple of weeks why Schmidt's handed Noah the keys, and I still think that's the correct decision given the other options available don't really offer much more. We could really use some more distance on the kicks though.

Impressions;
1) Defense / Defensive system was the biggest let down today. It might be worth changing to a rush defensive pattern next year.
2) Lineouts were pretty crazy. For both teams.
3) They were extremely good in the rucks. Did we miss McReight too much?
4) Finn Russell thrived on our defensive pattern and the ruck dominance his forwards won him.
5) Very high intensity game - even when it went from set piece to set piece in the 3rd quarter.
6) Hard to criticize the effort, execution was off and some referee management. Also defense was major problem
7) Scotland were bloody good.
Oh, and when might we do that? Just one lead in test before the BIL.

Both Kellaway and Ikitau whiffed badly on that tackle. Both had an opportunity to get a good shoulder on and affect the tackle and both failed.

Kellaway got their first but potentially just through reacting faster. His starting spot is only just outside the 15 whereas Tuipulotu caught the ball about 25m in and was just outside Ikitau at that point.

I fully get the point you're making about Noah, but, we should be asking a lot more from or other backs to do this.

The Darkness don't just rely on B Barrett to make clearing kicks, both D-Mac and Jordie step up to do this with success.

Why do we give the rest of the backline a free pass for not having this fundamental skill?

Hell, even Fraser showed in Brisbane his ability to absolutely whack a ball.
