Isn't the roof in Dunedin of a glass/perspex/plexiglass type that lets the sun in to engourage photosynthesis, unlike the roof at many other venues that are of a metal type, and when closed the surface is in darkness?

Inflated ETFE foils. Similar to the ones at Southern Cross station in mellybun.

not a great performance, but not too bad. I thought the defense was generally good; well organised and we continued to come up and tackle the scots behind the gain line.

I agree with everything but this point. It was a mediocre performance, and quite frankly (apart from the tries) boring! It was extremely disorganised scrappy play, which in my opinion was because of excellent pressure by the scots.
I also thought this would be a great chance to try out some other players in the forwards and maybe try a new halves combo with White and Foley maybe and I would have started betham (although he could be injured, I don't know)

The class players stood up last night: Folau, Cooper, Genia, Moore, Horwill. Mowen had a very good game as well - was still slogging it out right to the end.

i think that cooper's game is being viewed through some rose tinted glasses after last night's performance. he was solid, not outstanding.

thought horwill started playing himself back into form tonight with a much improved performance.

i'm surprised folau got motm, thought moore did more.

overall it was an ok game given how bad the pitch was. still think we need to pull something out for wales next week. while we've put a few together on the trot we haven't been really tested and i think that some of the welsh forwards would have watched how effective the niggle was from scotland.

We've seen probably the 3 worst surfaces in the NH in action during this series of games. The pitch in the Stade de France has been terrible for a long time. The Millenium stadium has problem with the grass there due to the design of the stadium. At Murrayfield they have a problem with turf parasites and they've been spraying it with garlic.

Not sure if the French are going to sort their pitch out in the near future.q.

I thought Twickenham went pretty well and so did Landsdowne (especially considering there was an international soccer game there last Friday too.)

I think the long term might see more and more artificial or hybrid pitches up here.

Think you have to recognise that stade francaise is configured for football and always will be. Worked well for France vs Ukraine. Cardiff also used for football now. That's where the real money is. Cardiff would work if they could wheel the pitch in and out, but as it is it would fall into the Taff. Just have to face it. Sodden pitches are the norm. if you play in winter. It rains a lot.

just finished watching the replay again..To'omua and Kuridrani can rest easy, their centre pairing is under no threat! Harris did play a pretty solid 12's game and I'd expect him to stay there next week. Lilo will be much more beneficial to the team from the bench where he can cover for 10 & 12 and in the absence of an injury come on and make an impact for the last 20 or 30 at 12.

Forwards and Cooper and Folau won the game for us.

That pitch needs a D11 to fix it..

Really like the way Cooper supported the ball. The amount of times he got 2 touches between phases, when combos develop further it will be dangerous.

Havent watched the match, but I am very pleased we toughed out a win.
Should I bother tracking down a replay? or should I just be happy knowing that we did enough....

I really feel as though we have the mocker on the Welsh, would be a great finish to the tour to pick them apart at Millennium.

Be happy we got the win. The two tries and the 'punch' were the match highlights.

Folau is dead set on another level, the way he takes the ball in the air and lands straight into stride is phenomonal. QC (Quade Cooper) has matured alot and you have to give him credit where once he shirked out in defence he is stepping up and putting his body in front of attackers. They were probably the two major highlights for the wallabies.

Am I the only one who think's Mowen has been generally pretty ordinary ; he secured the last penalty for the scottish holding on but I think more often then not he gives away far to many penalties eithier getting offside or competing whilst not holding his weight. His impact in offence and defence has been pretty minimal. I know Higgers lurks a bit out wide but I think he is a far better overall player. Thoughts?

I think Mowen is suffering from the length of the season, in what is his first international campaign. Against the Lions he was fantastic, and looked every bit an international 6. From what I have seen, which does not include last night, he works very hard but is largely ineffectual.

What I do like about him though, is that he is of good character and does not shirk the hard work even if he is not that well built for it. I think with an off-season to freshen up he will be an even better player next season off the back of this exposure.

Strange to say going into next weekend but have to say that for the first time for years I enjoy watching Australia, even when they lose. All the nonsense of percentage play has gone and QC (Quade Cooper) is allowed to do what he wants. He's always going to make mistakes but for god sake don't ask him to play safe.

The hype surrounding players such as JOC (James O'Connor), who never lived up to his marketing, is over. The team is a team and playing entertaining rugby. Makes me wonder why you put up with previous coach for so long

The only problem IMO is that the forwards are not world class especially back row. A better ref might well have carded a couple and the Mckenzie tactic for scrum seems to be to disrupt the put in and take pot luck with the ensuing penalty.

Tradesman like from the boys last night. It wasn't a great game or a great Wallaby performance, but I think most would take it given the lead up. The pack aimed up pretty well I thought and we also did as I had hoped and played good field position. Had Lilo kicked straight it wouldn't have been that close to be honest. Genia and Cooper steered the team around the paddock well and I thought Mowen had one of his better games too. The two tries we scored were first class IMHO and the kind of footy we're starting to play more consistently now. That inside ball to Izzy and the angle he ran was beautiful, as was the passing that led to CFS's try. You have to wonder where that's been for the last couple of years.

The Scots, they need a more creative and incisive midfield for mine. Their pack is hard working and very solid, but they don't create anything unfortunately. Their defence is quality (as a general rule) and they play with plenty of ticker, but against the better sides you have to work out how to unlock them too. Hopefully Scott Johnson can get them doing that a bit more, because they didn't really look like scoring last night (or I gather last week either).
