Peter Betham to save the day! So I would expect:
9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Tomane
12.To'omua
13. CFS
14. Betham
15. Folau

That looks like the least disruptive option. The only other one I think that Link will be thinking about is 13. Harris, 14. CFS. Ironically, the one player who will be on a club tour will be Betham, if he doesn't get a start this week.

He got on a plane last night or this morning according to Waratah sources.

Interesting.

If that's so, I would assume that he'd be likely be starting as you probably wouldn't fly over a specialist winger to sit on the bench.

That'd make a backline of:
9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Tomane/Betham
12. To'omua
13. CFS
14. Tomane/Betham
15. Folau

The most likely in my book, with Foley and Lilo on the bench and Harris and Phipps unlikely to get game time on the tour.

If Murrayfield is a bog, I'd seriously consider starting White.

CFS is is unbelievably raw to get a start at 13 in a test at this point.

However, he apparently likes going to bed early. That has to be a plus.

I'd like to see it, and if you were going to give him a start it would have been against Italy or Scotland.

If he makes a fist of it then you can reassemble a pretty similar back line to that we played against Italy and Ireland for the Wales game, leaving the back three where they were.

If Betham has flow over there, then i'd go with this. No shifting people around, you pick specialists in THEIR position.

White (Genia needs another rocket, and this is the perfect game to start White anyway)
Cooper
Tomane
To'omua
CFS
Betham
Folau

We don't have any other centres in the squad, CFS is the only full time centre. He might be raw, but we're not playing Wales or England, Scotland are not going to present muh in attack so he shouldn't be under too much pressure.

Genia
Lealiifano
Foley

for the bench.

I hope not. I still have nightmares of attending that game - although thankfully the flashbacks are becoming less frequent.

I saw the Saffa/Scots game & thought the Scots were good in patches against a bloody good Saffa team. One of the SA tries was off a Scottish mistake when they actually looked like they were getting a bit of a roll on. I'm not underestimating them at all. I hope those that are getting an opportunity due to those being stood down make the most of it.

No way should CFS start at 13. The Hurled team has Harris there, and is probably the most likely option.

I haven't been watching rugby as closely as usual in the last few months. But saying that I always made time for the Reds. What exactly has CFS done that justifies a start in the test #13 jersey?

He's good for his age, but it's those young players that should be playing themselves into the team. In this event I think you'd play the experienced option like Harris.

Or have I missed something?

I think experimenting with players out of position is the worst thing that Ewen could do. Whats the point of having backup players on tour if you're not going to play them in their position.

Playing Leali'ifano or Harris at outside centre would be the worst thing to do. They are not long term prospects in that position, and have NO experience playing there.(Harris might have played a match or two for the Reds @ 13, but Quade Defended @ fullback

Kuridrani made his debut at OC this year, and has been average at best in defense. He has consistently run out of the line and jammed and is extremely lucky that Ireland (for instance) didn't have the skills to take advantage of this over the weekend.

CFS is a long term proposition at OC or Wing, just like Tevita. I have also had the luxury of playing with both of them at various levels and I can honestly say that a straight swap is no loss.

I've never seen Harris play 13 in Super Rugby, so forgive my ignorance, but I think CFS, rightly or wrongly (whichever way your bias sees it) should start at 13.

With Kuridrani banned, and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) out for this game, who else is there to cover 13 but CFS? I find it a bit farcical to accomodate Lilo or To'omua in a position I've not see them play in Super Rugby. Like the ABs, we should be choosing the next best 13 (I'm sure Link is probably filthy now he didn't bring Horne over Harris after all).

With that being said, I trust the judgements of the coaches in training if they come to the conclusion that choosing an experienced player at 13 (if they prove themselves more than adequate to undertake the defensive responsibilities more than anything) has more upside than choosing a 1 test debutant to make his first start.

I just want to beat the Jocks FFS!

If CFS is played at 13 and I were the Scottish coach, I would be picking the fastest prop I can find at 13 and telling him to run at CFS all day.

Then it's undoubtedly a good thing for Scotland that you are not the Scottish coach.
If CFS did'nt have something in the way of ability he wouldn't be in the squad.
What is it with some of you guys, still frustrated you didn't make the school first XV?
Every Wallaby had to have a starting game sometime, so don't come down so hard on CSF.
Sometimes some of the remarks I read on this forum make me want to pull my hair out for their lack of sensitivity.

Not that I'm suggesting he play at 13, but I don't recall seeing To'omua play at 12 in Super Rugby either and he seems to have done OK
