With professional athletes sleep, hydration and calories in-V-out is such a big deal, so those 5 or 6 extra beers can have an effect.

I can see why bad decisions can be made in the moment, they were aloud to have a beer (or so I gather) but just had too many, and that effects their performances in small ways. Maybe the story is a more solid line needs to be drawn? They probably knew they were overstepping it but did it because there was no solid line (just a guess).

So, whilst not a massive deal it's good that they got more than a stern glare.

Mackenzie stated in an interview that team rules were in place and that the squad was familiar with them. That's a solid line.

Not necessarily.

"You may drink but be home at a decent hour and don't get drunk" is a rule, but is also vague.

I don't think we have all the info and I don't think we will get it, certainly not enough to draw solid conclusions like that.

I doubt Mckenzie wanted to hand out match bans on tour... So they must have been way out of line...

I wonder if Lilo will go to 12 and To'omua to 13... they will work well together and good defence... At least they have been starting/playing... and put Feauai-Sautia on the wing... Harris and Foley on the bench...

One suspects that you're right, there was a solid line and they all knew it otherwise McKenzie wouldn't have taken the action that he did. If everyone knows the rules and consequences then the coach has to act or he loses credibility with the team. If there aren't clear rules and the coach acts arbitrarily, then he would also lose credibility with the team.

It's something that McKenzie has spoken about since the day he took charge. This is actually good for the Wallabies that this has happened now and not in 6 or 12 months time. You'd like to think that the message has been given and understood and there will be no similar incidents while McKenzie is in charge. If there is, he has to take the same harsh actions.

I reckon for the Scots he'll go:
9. White
10. Cooper
11. CFS
12. To'omua
13. Folau
14. Tomane
15. Lilo

Given the way the Wallabies played against Ireland after a few sherbets, I suggest they all get as hammered as possible in the next day or so.

The mistake they made is splitting into groups. If the whole squad stayed out, what could Link have done.

Better still, they should have spiked Links drink first.

If Link is down on wingers and keep Folau at fullback, then he could also put Harris at 13, where he's played a few times at the Reds, and CFS on the wing.

I think that Foley to fullback, Folau and Tomane on the wing, and To'omua and CFS in the centres is more likely though.

All depends if you want Folau to stay at 15 or not.

Of course, we could also put a second rower on the wing.

Gezz its a tough one. Folou should stay at Fullback. Its really a shame both Beale and Falou are in the same Super XV team too.

I was going to suggest the staff have a good hard look at those who've played the most games, or minutes, this year and consider giving them a rest, but only after selecting our best 15 to take on Wales next week. It's crucial we develop depth among those who could play for the Wallabies, and a test like this is about as good an opportunity as Link'll get. TBH, three of our Super sides SHOULD comfortably beat the Sweaties.

However, the banning of the booze boys throws my suggested course of action out the window.

I, for one, find it very exciting that we're likely to see CFS at 13 against Scotland.

With Cummo and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) out, and Kuridrani probably out, it's basically a foregone conclusion.

It could be bad, it could be unnotable, or it could be incredibly exciting and the begining of a new Digby-type explosive outside back for Aus.

Fairfax is suggesting the wing for CFS...

The article assumes that Tomane and CFS will be the wings without considering that Kuridrani might (IMO certainly) be suspended. If Kuridrani is suspended then it will require a rethink.

Poorly written piece by Robinson IMO with not enough clear thinking about the various alternatives based on what happens at the hearing. She is usually better than this.

Yep, it's in the irish papers. Usual IRBJM (IRB Judicial Masturbation):

Crerar, having listened to detailed representations by and on behalf of Kuridrani, and having viewed the TV footage of the incident and considered all the other evidence, upheld the red card decision and found that the tackle should be categorised in the mid-range of the IRB’s entry point sanctions (8 weeks).
Crerar added a further week to reflect the need for a deterrent for the type of tackle but allowed mitigation of four weeks to reflect the player’s previous good disciplinary record and other mitigating factors.
With the suspension taking into account the centre’s future playing schedule, Kuridrani is free to return to action on the 17th of February, 2014.
