For those of you on the wrong side of the sandstone curtain it has been interesting reading The Land today and see the 8 page advertising titled Scholarships and Bursaries. The target market is obviously prospective Boarders and the following Schools have taken out advertising.
(in no particular order)
All Saints Bathurst
Barker College - Boarding Scholarships now open
Melbourne Grammar
Newington - Newington provides a sporting chance
Kings - Boarding, scholarships or bursaries
Scots PGC (Qld)
TSC - Means tested scholarships and bursaries
Knox - Regional Boarding Scholarships
Joeys - A number of scholarships are available
There are also similar numbers in Girls Schools however this thread doesn't mention them too much. (sexist?)
I will not try and reproduce it all here, however there are references to the individual websites for more information.
Main point out of all this is that individual schools will always provide assistance through academic, music, old boys/parents affiliation etc and it appears that "means tested" is a predominant feature.
No mention (except one) on % of assistance given.
These are obviously a many and varied beast which is an issue.
No mention of sporting scholarships funnily enough.
