Two old rival clashes this weekend (shite a shame the Stormers could not played the Saders this weekend on Newlands)

Teams:
Clan vs Welpies
Highlanders – 15 Israel Dagg, 14 Ben Smith 13 Kendrick Lynn, 12 Michael Hobbs, 11 James Paterson, 10 Robbie Robinson/Matt Berquist, 9 Jimmy Cowan (c); 8 Steven Setephano, 7 John Hardie, 6 Adam Thomson 5 Hayden Triggs, 4 Josh Bekhuis, 3 Clint Newland, 2 Jason Rutledge, 1 Jamie Mackintosh.
Subs: 16 Jason Macdonald, 17 Bronson Murray, 18 Joe Tuineau, 19 Tim Boys, 20 Sean Romans, 21 Jason Shoemark, 22 Fetu’u Vainikolo.

Lions – 15 Michael Killian, 14 Wigan Pekeur, 13 Walter Venter, 12 Doppies la Grange, 11 Tonderai Chavhanga, 10 Carlos Spencer, 9 Jano Vermaak, 8 Todd Clever, 7 Derick Minnie, 6 Cobus Grobbelaar (c), 5 Franco van der Merwe, 4 Nico Luus, 3 Ross Geldenhuys, 2 Hannes Franklin, 1 JC Janse van Rensburg.
Subs: 16 Charles Emslie, 17 Heinke van der Merwe, 18 Willem Stoltz, 19 Robert Kruger, 20 JP Joubert, 21 Wandile Mjekevu, 22 Earl Rose.

Still god smacked Heinke van der Merwe isnt starting. I know a lot of Lion supporters do rate JC but hell Heinke should be starting ASAP against the Highlanders. Ditto why Rose & Spencer still feature in their match 22. The Clan will win this one comfortable.

Canes vs Tjarks

Hurricanes – 15 Cory Jane, 14 Tamati Ellison, 13 Conrad Smith, 12 Ma’a Nonu, 11 Andre Taylor, 10 Willie Ripia, 9 Tyson Keats, 8 Rodney So’oialo, 7 Karl Lowe, 6 Victor Vito, 5 Michael Paterson, 4 Jeremy Thrush, 3 Neemia Tialata, 2 Andrew Hore (c), 1 John Schwalger.
Subs: 16 Dane Coles, 17 Jacob Ellison, 18 Bryn Evans, 19 Nick Crosswell, 20 Piri Weepu, 21 Aaron Cruden, 22 David Smith.

Sharks – 15 Patrick Lambie, 14 Stefan Terblanche, 13 Adrian Jacobs, 12 Riaan Swanepoel, 11 JP Pietersen, 10 Andy Goode, 9 Ruan Pienaar, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Willem Alberts, 6 Jacques Botes, 5 Alistair Hargreaves, 4 Steven Sykes, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 John Smit.
Subs: 16 Beast Mtawarira, 17 Wiehahn Herbst, 18 Wilhelm Steenkamp, 19 Jean Deysel, 20 Rory Kockott, 21 Waylon Murray, 22 Odwa Ndungane.

Beast and Twin back from injury and a shitty rotation between Alberts and Deysel. The Tjarks cant afford a loss and altho the Canes will be desperate like them for a win, Plumtree should just copy his Highlanders gameplan from last week and get a last ditch win on the road. If the Sharks can defend like last week specially in the first half, they can win this one.

Close and hard fight win by the Sharks against the Canes. Two wins now and great to see them back in S14 rugby. :thumb

Did my tipping the world of good!

Me too Paarl.

Being a Reds fan, I hoped the Canes would give them a good touch up. From an impartial fans perspective, it was just a bloody entertaining game to watch. JPP had ar real impact which was good to see.

They have been lucky this two weeks, welcoming Kiwi teams back in NZ who had been on the receiving end in SA. Should be interesting to see them vs a red hot Reds team in the Shark Tank. Big battle ahead, hopefully Boere food and a biltong diet this week will get them ready.

One moerse game coming up this weekend between the two blue teams from NZ & SA.

Brutes for the Blues clash
Bulls – 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Gerhard van der Heever, 13 Jaco Pretorius, 12 Wynand Olivier, 11 Francois Hougaard, 10 Morné Steyn, 9 Fourie du Preez, 8 Pierre Spies, 7 Dewald Potgieter, 6 Deon Stegmann, 5 Victor Matfield (c), 4 Danie Rossouw, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Gary Botha, 1 Gurthrö Steenkamp.
Subs: 16 Bandise Maku, 17 Bees Roux, 18 Flip van der Merwe, 19 Derick Kuün/Jaco Engels, 20 Jacques-Louis Potgieter, 21 Jaco van der Westhuyzen, 22 Pedrie Wannenburg.

Pretty strong one and their defense will be tested, make no mistake and a difficult pick, this one. :nta:

Two big clashes this weekend , Chiefs vs Brutes & Blues vs Stormers. On current form I can see the Brutes hit back against the Chiefs but the Stormers, no way against the high riding Blues. The Stormers like playing against the Kiwi teams and have been somewhat of the Blues boogey team in the past. Then they have to defend like they did against the Canes and Clan, no Pie Eater and Sereli need a rocket up his arse. Good news are that du Jongh will be back and Joe Pietersen the following week against the Chiefs. JC is out and JD Moller will probably start. DickHeadSon again the ref, but this may help the Stormers going into this game. My fears for Schalk handling the ref and high pressure was misleading and thought he did pretty well in the Force game. The Brutes will miss Jaco Pretorius and Derick Kuhn with injuries.

The Stormers team will be announce soon, expecting Dewaldt & Juan de Jongh back in the starting 15. Good news for them is that young Ralph Koster will get his first run this coming weekend for WP Vodacom team. Also Joe Pietersen maybe back next week against the Chiefs and a impressive WP backline with x Stormers on the edge to try and getting back into S14 rugby. Newman, des Fountain, Lionel Cronje & Conrad Hoffman all playing.

Both are crucial games. The Chiefs will have to recapture last season's form to beat the Bulls. I agree the Stormers are unlikely to get past the Blues.

The full WP Vodacom team:
Jurgen Visser, Nick Koster, Dylan des Fountain, Morgan Newman, Johann Sadie, Lionel Cronjé, Conrad Hoffmann, Jody Birch, Yaya Hartzenberg, Pieter Myburgh, Martin Muller, Hugo Kloppers, Buhle Mxunyelwa, Hanyani Shimange (k), Michael De Neuilly-Rice.

PLAASVERVANGERS: Callie Visagie, Ruan Smith, Stephan Greeff, Tertius Daniller, Dustin Jinka, Paul Bosch, Danie Poolman

Good mixture of young (Maties) and experience talent in this team. IF the Stormers can pick up one or two wins on tour they'll have some real depth for the home run and will be pretty difficult to beat.

(Glad to see Ruaan Smith on the bench!)

You'd call one win from five an excellent weekend?

Surprise win by the Stormers, great match by Duvenhage and this win should set up our season nicely

Most pleasing thing about the Stormers is the way their forwards was playing against the Blues, young players like Duvenhage, Miscuito (Aplon) , de Jongh , Flo, Fourie and the fatties start playing on S14 level.

This weekend they are up against the Chiefs and they will have to reproduce their Canes, Blues effort if they want to win. The Chiefs thight five not impressive and thats where the Stormers will have to dig them.

After watching Bekker hitting the line now for consective weeks not many know he played full back till U16 for De Kuilen. Paul Roos made him a lock and he sure show some of that skills with great speed.

Chiefs – 15 Tim Nanai-Williams, 14 Lelia Masaga, 13 Richard Kahui, 12 Stephen Donald, 11 Dwayne Sweeney, 10 Mike Delany, 9 Brendon Leonard, 8 Sione Lauaki, 7 Tanerau Latimer, 6 Liam Messam (c), 5 Culum Retallick, 4 Craig Clarke, 3 Ben Afeaki, 2 Hika Elliot, 1 Toby Smith.
Subs: 16 Vern Kamo, 17 Nathan White, 18 Romana Graham, 19 Colin Bourke, 20 Junior Poluleuligaga, 21 Callum Bruce, 22 Jackson Willison.

Stormers – 15 Gio Aplon, 14 Sireli Naqelevuki, 13 Jaque Fourie, 12 Juan de Jongh, 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Peter Grant, 9 Dewaldt Duvenage, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Francois Louw, 6 Schalk Burger (c), 5 Andries Bekker, 4 Adriaan Fondse, 3 Brok Harris, 2 Tiaan Liebenberg, 1 JD Moller.
Subs: 16 Deon Fourie, 17 JC Kritzinger 18 Anton van Zyl, 19 Pieter Louw, 20 Ricky Januarie, 21 Willem de Waal, 22 Tim Whitehead.

Pretty much the same old same from the Stormers. Will be interesting to see the way the highly rated Delany goes against the Stormers defense. The war at the breakdown should be interesting but the Stormers should just do what they did against the Blues in the forwards battle for 1st phase.

If the Stormers or Cheetahs gets a win on the weekend in NZ , our teams will equal their best performance in NZ in 2001. Thats when we had 5 victories over them in NZ. Think I have a better change getting pregnant then the Tin Ears to beat the Saders, the one NZ team that never have lost against SA S14 opposition in Christchurch, so the Stormers will carry the SA hopes.
