Some pretty poor tackle attempts on him though. Did work hard, but always seems to be running in slow motion!
he has to be getting close to his first try in S15 soon, he is getting really close, once he breaks the white line fever he might become a scoring machine.

I think he was $26 to score first last night.

Two good results for the Reds. They really did their bit with the bonus point win and the Chiefs result helps them out a little too. For the moment they're in the play-off spots. If the Saders and Chiefs finish strongly and pull away from the other NZ teams there could be two Aus teams in the top 6.

Just rewatched the first half and particularly cooper's cross field kick at the end of that half. There were three support players for Simmons - awh who was trailing almost directly behind him, shipperly who was on the inside and probably would have scored if Simmons got the ball to him and the third, just behind shipperly was cooper, who had just kicked the ball on the other side of the field. This is part of what makes him so good - he always gets himself in the best position to influence the play (as it was he nearly took the pass from Simmons)!

and during the week I read he was on the Wallaby leadership committee!!!WTF did they forget about his sleep in?

Makes sense the wallabies should "collaborate and listen" to him.

I thought Mike Harris was outstanding for the Reds - the best his running game has been for a little while. His kicking great as usual. AWH is a very good player, unlucky not playing more Super Rugby games for Queensland.

Other observations:

I still think Quade Cooper is the better out of O'Connor, Beale and the like. He doesn't sport dumbarse haircuts for starters!

Beale is the best flyhalf in Australia...only if his passes aren't required to go longer then 1metre.

I think that JOC (James O'Connor) has been watching too much Beverly Hills 90210 during the break. Maybe he would prefer to be called Brandon over Beiber.

Brandon was a pussie, high school newspaper editor my arse, he could never rock a mike like a vandal. Never understood why he kept having an on and off thing with Kelly, i would never have kicked her out.

OMG, have I shared too much?

Yeah, I wouldn't have kicked Kelly out either. Maybe I should have put up Dylan, he was way tougher than Brandon. Except that Dylan had a poor taste in women, and kept boning Brandons sister, Brenda. Probably shows how much of a pussy Brandon was there RT, just rolling over and letting his mate bang his sister whenever he wanted to!

Ahem - Anyway, glad the Reds won. The pack has really been standing up as of late.

Looking at that artists impression it is no wonder he did a hammy.

Jokes aside I'm a fan of JOC (James O'Connor). We need players of all kinds of characters. We need some cocky upstarts as much as we need down-to-earth knock about players - as long as the team is cohesive. I like that we have a player with his kind of confidence with the skills to back it up. It makes me look forward to seeing him develop over the years.

You have to take the good with the bad - I'm sure he will continue to give us plenty of things to cringe about over the course of his playing career.

AS, you wouldn't know from personal experience, but it takes some young chaps longer for their "balls to drop"!!

I was glad a lot of the Reds Players seem to be finding some form.

I am a Reds supporter, but the Rebels need to stop playing O'Conner at 10, Play Beale there and let him drop back in defence to play fullback sort of like Quade does.
O'Conner is a brilliant player who can find space, punches through tackles well given his size, but I just don't believe 10 is his best position.

There were good performances across the park for the Reds, but not their most slick performance at all. Wipe out the silly little errors and they will be hard to beat.

I noticed the ball popping out of that scrum, the touchies are pretty average. They seem to be all too keen to come in to let the ref know about some half assed tackled that borders on a shoulder charge, but never have the intestinal fortitude to make a call on a try even when they are standing on the corner post with an perfect position to be able to make a call.

Thought Harris had his most complete game at 12 - some good strong runs and offloads, the chip kick and regather

A fair few passes were still behind the man. It's my biggest hate with Harris, how he struggles to put the ball on the support players chest.

There was improvement though, the ball got to the players hands. Quite a few times this year he has passed to the ground in front of the man.

Injury updates from last night:
- O'Connor done for the season, Johansson to take his spot on the tour
- Beale to play fly-half (should of been this way from the start). He was a bit bruised, but will be fine
- Pyle had an issue with his foot, getting a scan today
- Jones had a moon boot on, will start running today, doubt he'll travel

They fly out tomorrow.

  • Also, Quade was very lucky the Rebels didn't score before half time after his cross field kick to Simmons inside his own 22m and after the hooter really could have been a turning point. Luckily the Reds defence held out. I know that kind of thing is why we love Quade, but Simmons wasn't exactly going to run the length of the field and score a try, and when you are up by plenty surely taking half time is the best option.

If Simmons had looked to pass before coming up to Beale he would have seen Shipperley looming and a try almost definitely would have been scored.

A bit bruised? The way he was carrying on I thought he had a punctured lung!

I was quite impressed with perret. He played hard, tackled well and has good support work.
Owen also looked solid. Positive developments. Just need to poach a couple wingers and a centre! Wouldn't mind seeing the rebels run oconnor at 15 next year with Beale at 10

Thought Perrett went ok too, he certainly got around the field and seemed to do some work. Needs a bit more impact at ruck time though.

Ged was a step up from Freier who is declining a bit. Mistake not to start Ged I thought.

The selection of JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 must have been about getting everyone (Stirling, JOC (James O'Connor), Inman, Beale) onto the field at once. I still rate Inman and think he could be a good one as he keeps developing.

So Beale at 10 or 15 for the Rebels in the future? I would have to say that it would depend upon what other choices they have available in each position.
