Tiny, tiny country that has won the WORLD CUP of soccer TWICE, including the first event and came fourth as recently as 2010.
They are country that punches way our of their weight class, much like us. I hope this is the flag they can put in the ground and build a rugby identity around.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed that game, although I probably wanted Fiji to win to keep the pool interesting, who doen't love an uspet by a real minnow!! As for the f*** wit panel on Foxsports saying Fiji shouldn't of changed 12 players, did they not notice how stuffed some of them looked? Anyway the World Cup is up and running great isn't it?

Amazing result. Uruguay have come a long way in the last year, though Fiji (even with the same starting 15) would win that match probably more than 95% of the time so it's definitely one of the bigger upsets in world cup history.
I think this result should make World Rugby think very seriously about moving to a 24 team world cup. There's at least another 4 teams already around the level of Russia and Uruguay, and with Global Rapid Rugby and the new South American league there'll be a few more nations who's test teams will be full of professional players in 4 years time. And a 24 team tournament would mean no short turnarounds and an extra round of knockout games (round of 16), without increasing the number of games the finalists would play.

Totally daft left-field take here but I kind of wonder if those little schoolkid battalions behind the posts with the irate organised screaming didnt half throw the Fijians into a bit of a fluster; they did seem to push a lot of stupid shit at peak crescendo moments.....

Plenty of canadians have played for my club over the years. I hope they can work their way back into this game. Their attack doesnt look too bad but their defence needs to step up. Too many missed tackles.
