KevinO, I agree that Ireland lost the game in the collisions last night. Argentina were making metres at will, especially early on.
Huh?
There are no breakdowns in shit weather?
Ireland were beaten in every facet of the game.
playing it in raging snowstorm would have hampered the Pumas from moving the ball around, and kept the score closer.
But that would just disguise Irelands shortcomings in International Rugby.
You guys think you excel in harsh conditions, but the fact is,you only play other gumby 6 Nations in those conditions.
flat track bullies.
I admit we where beaten every where last night, but it's no fluke that we beat Australia and SA last November. We lost two games in two years before the WC warm up games and none of them was against SH teams. Ok we did not play the All Blacks but we still beat the Boks and Wallabies.
The Arrogance of Australian fans now that they have won a few games is amazing. You would think you have won the Bledisloe Cup, Lions tour and a Grand Slam tour the way your carrying on.
Cling to that!
Is it more arrogant to celebrate some successes at RWC,or to refuse to acknowledge shortcomings when you have your pants pulled down by an unrated nation?I admit we where beaten every where last night, but it's no fluke that we beat Australia and SA last November. Not the final huw. But I get your pointNot that it matters too much, but this result would have turbocharged Los Pumas with respect to their World Ranking.
With the double points available for ranking at RWC, I reckon that Los Pumas may have jumped from 6th to 4rd with their nose just in front of Wales and just behind SAF.
This would have to be the highest that Los Pumas have been on the ranking table since The Hand Of God intervened to help the Argies win a Soccer World Cup Final.
Gotta great idea then that I'll suggest to wru. Since it's so much beneath you and you gave us such a thrashing Let's not play each other for four years and we ll see how long you survive by playing with yourselvesIs it more arrogant to celebrate some successes at RWC,or to refuse to acknowledge shortcomings when you have your pants pulled down by an unrated nation?
Most people regarded last years tours by both Oz & SA as building blocks for the current tournament.
In Australia's case, we lost our coach a week before the tour started.
I was surprised we won any games in that tour.
But hey, you can fill in the next four years waiting for the next RWC,by playing dumb,no skill Rugby against other dumb, skill less Nations thinking it's the pinnacle, and then complain that the conditions in Japan weren't artic enough when you bow out in the pools,or quarters if you're lucky.
With draw the Lions as it cost us plenty in injuries and tour costs and see how broke the ARU are afterwards.Gotta great idea then that I'll suggest to wru. [.....]But tbh it's in attack that Wales and Ireland have been found wanting. Argies have simply discovered the lost art of getting the ball wide. Something we've forgotten
Far more rain falls on the southwestern part of the southern island than elsewhere. (You actually got me to check.)
I suggest that your playing style is limiting, and that you over rate the quality of the 6 Nations. With draw the Lions as it cost us plenty in injuries and tour costs and see how broke the ARU are afterwards.
Instead having a European Championship of 20 teams, at least one of us would win another trophy every 4 years and it would help develop some of the Teir 2 Nations like Romania, Russia, Georgia etc

And your idea of how to improve yourselves is to weaken the balance sheets of Southern Hemisphere nations, and to play more games against lower quality nations?
Don't know what you checked, but you are completely wrong on all counts.
More rain falls in the north island of NZ (where most of the people live) than in either European rugby centres or the NZ south island.
(etc. and wall of links)
I find it strange that Ireland effectively lost the game in first quarter. Never seen them so slow to start. There was certainly issue with Ireland defensively. Argentina made ground with most carries. But tbh it's in attack that Wales and Ireland have been found wanting. Argies have simply discovered the lost art of getting the ball wide.
