RWC Pool C - Australia v Wales - 5AM 25 Sep AEST

I want the Wallabies to win, with the necessary tries and points differentials to progress to the Quarter Finals. I just don't see that happening.

By the end of the EOYT last year I was feeling confident we had the side, players and coaching team to beat Wales whenever we played them. Right now, I believe we have regressed so far that a win over Wales is extremely unlikely. I also believe that, in the unlikely event of a win, the style of play under Jones would not result in the number of tries needed to earn the bonus point to advance. Certainly, this aspect is not helped at all by the selection of Donaldson at No 10. He has done little at Super level to suggest he can break up a RWC team's defensive systems. The only meagre chance we had imo was with Carter Gordon at 10, but not to be.

I think Wales will be a hurdle too far or too high for us to conquer.

I hope we win comfortably. The arrogance from some of the Welsh fans and others on social media. Writing the wallabies off as hopeless and no chance.
One person's arrogance is another's insightful assessment. If there was a WR (World Rugby) Turd-o-meter, the Wallaby arrow would be on 11.

Also not sold on Leota, he needs a massive game to justify selection here.

on the train now to Lyon from Paris ready to get behind the boys. We still have some quality players so can make this happen. Predicting it will be under 7 point win either way

McLennan is just adding to the evidence that he is unsuitable in his present job. Poor decisions around sacking the coach in the run up to the Cup, replacing him with a coach who failed in his last appointment, spending millions ...
McLennan is under pressure for these types of reasons -- in particular because he's been "hands on" in the job; almost an executive chairman (which likely led to Marinos's departure).

However ...
In what context would King Charles, formerly the Prince of Wales, be barracking for the Wallabies? And of what relevance is a nitwit like any of the British Royal Family to Australian Rugby?
... methinks this is a bit of a larf.

Your nitwit Chuck has minimal actual interest in rugby, and even less in the Wallabies. That's the joke.

The actual Prince of Wales likes rugby but doesn't care about Wales: :p ...

Just days into his new post of Vice Royal Patron for Welsh Rugby, Prince William already finds himself under attack from the nation's hymn-warbling supporters.

Over the weekend, the Welsh Rugby Union's official fans' message board was inundated with angry messages from fans claiming the sport-loving Prince was lacking the credentials for the job.

They were unhappy that after William's appearance in Cardiff for the game against Ireland two weeks ago, he then decided to snub Wales' game against Scotland last Saturday.

Instead, he chose to watch England ...

Admittedly, this was from quite some time ago. He probably fakes it better now.

Imagine a high ranking executive of a national team telling fans not to watch a game because they weren’t being supportive, instead of attempting to rally what remains of an already battered and bruised fan base that will likely diminish even more due to the poor administration of that team.

Now open your eyes, the Chairman of Rugby Australia just did that.

Yeah look I think much like my own post last night if McLennan had his time again he would have worded things a bit differently. The MSM have honed in on that one line but at the end of the day McLennan only has the interests of Australian rugby top of mind and all he is really saying is it’s going to be a great watch, so tune in. If you can’t read between the lines to see that, then…..I’m not sure really.

It’s all pretty meh TBH, certainly nowhere near as bad as Pulver’s infamous Campbelltown line.

Yeh I’m not saying it’s a comment which is sackable or anything. It’s more just hilarious.

The chairman drawing a line in the sand before this game after the results to date.

I just hope we can play with some structure which i think tate will give us. Nic White had no idea what he was doing. Every time we had the ball we showed no danger of breaking gain line and often would just kick the ball or isolate ourselves. Need to start playing like AB's with some serious structure.

It just shows the lack of IQ in our rugby administration. He is trying to defend the coach, the decision to hire him and the team when in reality he represents us the fans, or should.

I back Rob to have a blinder I think it’s a good selection, expecting our boys to bounce back like they did after the Italy and MCG defeats

I’d disagree, he’s there to make the right decisions for the good of Australian rugby

The Wallabies can win this game but not easily. They need to watch what Ireland did to SA, they hung in and hung in and took their chances when they rarely arrived.
We can win this game, it's stopping Wales from getting a bonus point that worries me.

They won't do that. They'll just kick it away every time they enter the 22 because 'tries aren't scored by holding the ball' or whatever genius thinking is feeding eddies tactics.

I think they are going to switch to an expansive game, go wide often.

Yeah they will be wanting to bank the bonus point and can afford a few risks to make that happen, Wales can get a bonus point as well, just not two of them. We can then put all our fliers in the game v Portugal to get ahead on PD.

I just want us to come out and absolutely smoke Wales. Just because it‘s Wales. Wallabies by 12 at the end I reckon.
