Pessimism - evaporating

Optimism - slowly taking hold

Thank the creamy caramel fudge that Wales didn't get the BP.

Lacey refs the breakdown like he's playing heads or tails.
Huh?
Heads or tails is chance.
This pricks arm only goes one way.
Another example of a refs incompetence/preconceived ideas determining the winner.
It's leaving a bad taste in my mouth!
I can see this shit coming the wallabies way.

Not happy Jan!

I don't think so.

If we beat England they are out. Wales beating Fiji closes the door on a side making it through with two wins.

If England beats us then they will almost certainly go through. They will get 5 points against Uruguay and 15 points will be enough to progress from this pool.

All that has changed by Wales not getting a bonus point is that if we lose to England, our chances of progressing are better than before because we would only need to accrue four more points than Wales from our last two matches rather than five.

Although for and against would only come into things if the pool match was a draw. In the event of 2 teams finishing on equal points in the pool, the first criteria to apply is winner of the pool match goes through.

I meant accrue four more competition points, not for and against.

I agree that for and against are very unlikely to come into things. The only way for that to really happen that I can see is us beating England without a bonus point and then drawing against Wales. We'd top the group with the superior points differential.

That's I'm trying to say

The biggest thing I took from this game was how terrible the Fiji back line was. The whole backline was static, when they should been catching the ball at pace. It would have made a world of difference. (note to wallabies)

It's true and it is a shame they were never taking the ball at any speed. But then again when they were playing at their best after half time it was a form of 15-man sevens, which is a game that doesnt have line speed.

I thought the centres were great with the ball in hand,as were the back 3.
I'm sure if they swapped the 10's Fiji win comfortably.
That & the ref...

But their forwards weren't v good at anything other than scrum. And whilst I do think that some decisions should've gone to Fiji, they also got away with as much in the breakdowns.

Lacey was dire but the record shows Fiji are not easy to ref

They killed you at the breakdown, it just wasn't refereed fairly.

We agreed last night that they weren't getting the rub of the decisions and I stand by that. I've watched it again tho and in slo mo there was a fair bit going on both sides.

Name of the game for Wales was to get through awkward fixture unscathed with a win to maintain the pressure on Orcland. Now on Saturday it's up to Australia to match Wales.

You re-watched the game in slow-motion? now that's commitment

Haha. Not the whole thing mostly Lacey's decisions that I didn't get and some I thought I had got. Some still beyond me mind.

Message to Australian team. Dont draw on Saturday in a four try festival. Does my head in trying to work out what happens then.

I actually prefer Lacey to Poite

Fiji didn't help themselves with some of the infringements in the tackle area. Several times they were pinged for going in without supporting their bodyweight. Most 7's do this well & quickly & then get away with it. Fiji made it bloody obvious.
Refs could penalise every team at virtually every breakdown in every match if they wanted. There is someone infringing all the time. Lacey was pedantic at times but also let some obvious stuff go - Wales sealed off the ball illegally at a few rucks & Fiji often came in from the side in an offside position to clear out rucks.
Who'd be a referee, eh ? :)
