I'm really only saying that I'd like him to be a bit more honest with the press? Is that such a horrible request? I also think their position on confidence is mildly incongruous with taking the points when you are 12 points up.

If anything maybe you are making poor inferences from my comments?
Cheka can't win: if he lays out his philosophy it will be pulled apart and discredited; if he professes ignorance he'll be criticised but at least none of our opponents will gain insight into his philosophy.
The BP permutations are so complicatd that worrying about them is more effort than it's worth. As a coach if you start talking about how you can get through even if you lose games that are yet to be played there is a risk that the players start contemplating a loss as acceptable. Managing expectations and psyche is easier if you just make the squad approach the issue on the basis of winning them all.

So we don't even know who our best halves are? I dont think think it should be surprising that someone would rank another backline as being better than ours.

No we don't know who is going to be selected. We all have an opinion as to who should be.

Let's not overthink all the permutations fellas. Win every game, get out of the group. It's that simple. If we can't manage that then we're not as good as we thought we were.

Some of has never been confident of 4 from 4. Probably why we are anxious about bonus points.

I am one of those people. I am also, however, confident that if we make the quarter finals, we can take it from there and succeed.

I thought Gatland outcoached Lancaster completely today. Playing a deep backline, with thecut out passes nullifying the English rush defence, allowing them to try and get around the wingers.
Going to be a cracker next weekend. Not often Australia will be cheered on by All Blacks supporters.

I think you mean all of the rugby playing world.;)

none of those players are better than 50% chances under a high ball.
That's absolute crap. Find me a stat that supports that. Beale for one often gets criticised for being weak under the high ball but show me the link to the footage of the last time he dropped one cold.

Cheika it seems to me has ALWAYS been a one match at a time bloke, in public anyway. So his mantra to players and public alike is that to win the RWC you just have to win the game you are playing, not the next one or the one after that.
Personally i am quietly confident that between them Cheika, Larkham, Gray and Ledesma have a plan and are working to that. In all likelihood we may struggle to beat England. but i think Wales will be buggered by the time they come to play the Wallabies and won't pose a great threat.

The first two make a great resume, the basis on which he got the job.

At test level - he's 4 from 8 against teams in the top 8. Let's not get carried away.

You're the one getting "carried away" when you come out with such condescending tosh as "once he actually wins something (meaningful)". And that's just the bar for for you sucking his dick. You really are one negative hombre.

And the fun begins - good summary of UK press reaction: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11519709 . It may be kicking the sleeping dog, but gee I love seeing the dodger press all frothed up like this. Eg,

"A 12-month policy shift in favour of greater sophistication was abandoned in the face of the Welsh midfield threat. Lancaster refused to see it that way. He cast it as horses for courses. But the knife-edge was all too clear. Victory would have vindicated the meddling. Defeat has cast Lancaster as the coach who ripped up a winning formula, at home, against a team with an injury list as long as the M4. Robshaw's captaincy is also badly battered."

I think the goal kicking is our biggest worry against both these sides. Every kick by both Farrell and Biggar went straight as a die. No hook, no fade, Must be easy to just aim and kick.

This - how many different people taking kicks have we had since the last RWC? I reckon it would easily be double figures.

In recent times the only kicker in Oz who has this long, penetrating kicking style with a pretty straight path has been Beale, albeit without the consistency of these guys. Plus, he hasn't commanded a starting position often at Super level, let alone Test level. With attention and dedication he could probably be a very good goal-kicker, but we tend not to pick the kicker first, more the ballplayer, and Beale has not been good enough at that to demand selection. It's telling that a freak like Neil Jenkins coaches both Biggar and Halfpenny.

Oh, and Nic White, but the same applies.

^^^ and I would add Cyclo that given our kicker is not picked first, but rather is a tie breaker of sorts between balacned options, those in that frame would tend to concentrate their training time on other aspects.

Is the few months that Malone has been with the team enough to overcome the technique issues in Foley's kicking. On recent results (with a very small sample size) would indicate that a positive impact has been made, and we hope that is indeed the case.

I'm not getting it.
I thought we won our first game?
We have a human bye tonight.
Then we have England who are actually playing shit, and Wales who have an injury toll that would cruel the AB's.
Things are looking a lot better today, than before it started, with or without a bonus point.
Enjoy the ride!
