With 27 amateurs in their squad, they're unlikely to get a decent run anywhere, though in 2003 I saw them beat Georgia.
It would be nice for them to be in a pool with at least a game they could target. Like Namibia or Canada.

Interesting to see what happens with Palu and Skelton. Palu ought to go home, get someone in (maybe one of those hookers??) or even Vaea (although I can't see him playing with McCalman and Pocock both going well so maybe no value), and Skelton maybe too if shoulder is more than a stinger. But who? Horwill maybe? Carter? Something from left field?

Wallabies got the job done. A scrappy match in parts with too many poor passes - particuarly in the first half. Sometimes it can be more difficult playing a well-structured game against a team like Uruguay, who let's fact it are Tier 3 standard at best. Eastwood or Manly would probably beat them.

McMahon the pick of the Wallabies, Phipps quite good. Getting through that one with a bonus point and without any significant injuries is all we need.

Good to see you guys during a World Cup are still crapping on about Tahs v Reds ..if I'm Wales or England I don't want Quaide on the field either..makes mistakes ...but we've scored 11 tries this evening.. First game back for a while..start with Foley ok but I'd hate to mark up on Quaide...I'm wondering after watching that whether it's QC (Quade Cooper) or the guys outside him. Seems to me that Beale new where to be?

Quade maybe when big fat Pommy forwards start to get tired?

I dunno, its hard to judge Quade as "running a game" when he had a half-decent game here but a fairly ordinary performance against NZ as well.

As Ash says above: confidence in either to run a Test is low, but for different reasons. Some people want Foley to be some kind of god instead of the enabler he is. Some people want Quade to just stop fucking around and get the basics right, THEN select the right time to turn on the razzle dazzle.

Beale has the most friends in the commentary team on gem. On that basis he should captain Australia in the rest of the world cup on that performance.

Yeah, with the 3-game compression gone, the first-choice replacement is one of the hookers.

At this stage, the second team isn't needed as much so they could now cover their bases and call in another hooker for Palu and I guess a second rower for Skelton if he's gone, although they could opt for Higgers or Vaea if they want another flanker.

Do you think that Foley is a Test level flyhalf though? Great running and support, goal kicking back on song, but the rest of his game isn't up to scratch at the moment. Lack of vision and ability to control / organise a backline at Test level really worry me.

Foley will get the nod without a doubt, but there's no confidence in either of them at 10 right now.

Lack of vision assumes our vision is better.

Thats the nature of playing 12 beside QC (Quade Cooper). If you don't know him well then you can become a spectator.

I thought that To'omua was like a lot of the other backs in the first half - he was trying too hard to do things, ending up throwing a few wild passes. He settled a lot better in the second and ended up having a good second half.

What is it about Quade Cooper and World Cups? Saves his worst for it. What a joke of a performance from him and the whole team. Should've scored 90 out there. Biggar and Farrell would be laughing at the goal kicking performance.
