My preference for the next RWC location is Italy. They're the only 6N/3N member not to have played host to a RWC match, and they're getting stronger every year. They have a plethora of high capacity rectangular stadia (see below) so there'd be no need to spend billions on upgrades. Plus, Italy has the advantage of being a popular tourist destination. People would much rather go to Italy than Georgia, Russia or even Japan. It's also right next to France and not far from the UK, so there would be no problem finding supporters even if the Italians weren't going to pack out every game. An Italian RWC could even give a QF and a few pool matches to neighboring countries like France did in 2007.

I think that is where it will end up going. the IRB will compromise between giving it to a 'new nation' and a traditional country.

Italy fits the bill.

They could give a game or two to spain/france.

And in Central/Eastern Europe generally. The excitement it would develop amongst countries other than Georgia and Romania (well, in addition to those) would be immense.

Of course, at the same time... hosting it in the Americas somewhere would also be amazing.

would also be a filup for countries bordering Russia such as Estonia, which at the moment has only four or five teams, but recently played their first "test",against Finland,I think.
If played in September, the conditions should be OK

south Africa was guilty of hosting the worst fifa world cup in recent history so i'm begging it not to go there. Russia i could stand as they would be able to get some very nice facilities but i guarantee they would need to find a new window in their summer as November is too cold to host any sort of cup (even their football league is wrapped up well before then), which would mean bye bye 4 nations 2023. USA i could maybe stand as long as they don't bastardize the game with their unholy ways, ie commercialism. I'm hoping for Argentina or Italy to host as they would both be top notch.

It would be brilliant for Russia or any other country which hasn't hosted the RWC to do so. Argentina, Italy or USA/Canada would also be good for the development of rugby. By 2023, the RWC should be more competitive than ever.

Probably a good thing considering their financial position (i.e. using the lint in their pockets as currency).

Plus funding isn't drained by stadium construction. Allows all funding from government/iRB to go into the development of the game/advertisement of the RWC, which is a win-win situation for all nations involved and the iRB.

Argentina would be great just for the steaks alone and that is not even mentioning the Argie women!

Clearly, there is a lot of interest in hosting world cup and we now have options that weren't really around 12, 8 or even 4 years ago. I think it is important to alternate between new territories and growing the game along with rewarding the traditional fan bases of rugby.

Something like 2015 Eng 2019 japan 2023 Sth Africa 2027 Italy 2031 Argentina 2035 Russia/eastern Europe 2039 Aus 2043 Qatar (Ok, joking about that)

You never ever know, it could happen. That said, I'd like the see the USA given a stab at it by then if their current growth continues to trends upwards as it is at present.

Vancouver - BC Place 55,000. Its top grade artificial, but I believe that's a legacy issue from the fact it was previousy a closed roof stadium. They now have a retractable roof (really interesting design - only kind of its in the world) and I've heard they are looking to go back to natural grass now that they can get some sun light in.
I hope they improve the service, when the BC Lions had their first home game there were massive delays for entry and for drinks. I went there plenty of times when I lived a couple of blocks away and it incredibly close to the downtown bars and eateries. It is a great stadium and deserves to be used for more international sports.

Interstingly the Vancouver venue was chosen to host the Womens Soccer world cup final over Toronto which is a grwat move, Rogers Stadium is one of the worst I have been to for rectangular games.

They could still play it and just reverse what happened this year, have a world cup first and then a tri nations afterwards (hopefully it will be still the 4 nations!!) It may even work out better as you have an opportunity to either be the World cup winners on a home tour to show off the trophy or to host the champions.

With RWC 2011, we've seen the boat cruises around NZ to conincide with the big games. Will we see river cruises at RWC 2023?
