yeah France v New Zealand and Ireland v SA will have their own threads. Not much work will be done in September.

They can up until August 26th without any need for clearance though. The next fortnight will be interesting.

It seems Ireland will finalise their squad on Monday 28th August.

So, perhaps unfettered non-clearance changes can still be made after the wobs game against les frogge.

Another site (unknown veracity) claimed the deadline was 1 September:

Just watched the England v Wales game from last night.

Very average. Have been critical of the Wallabies in the Rugby Championship but I’d be confident saying they would have beaten both sides last night. England down to 12 at one point and still Wales couldn’t do it.

The speed of giving out yellows makes me nervous for the RWC as the RC was pretty flexible on giving them and leant more towards penalties.
God that was a hard watch. I got home from a gig with full intentions of watching with my 14yr old son. He fell asleep not long into it and I wasn't far behind.

fuck that sucks. Jalibert is a great replacement and arguably better but you can’t replace the 150+ professional games Ntamack and Dupont have played together.

Cyril Baille is now out for 5-6 weeks too. One of the best props around, France doing it tough. Would’ve preferred the injuries to come from Wales or England..

Well England has a forced sit out for at least one player after the weekend

I dunno, I really rate Ford. I don't think there's any step down from a Farrell-led England to a Ford-led England.

jack van poortvliet out for the World cup as well

These warm up matches causing quite the carnage

Always happens to everybody, I think it just gets emphasized a little more in the NH because they are both (a) genuine Warm Up matches rather than competitive RC (or to a slightly lesser extent, PNC (Pacific Nations Cup)) games and (b) the players are coming in "cold" as compared to SH/Japanese based players: they may have last played in early May.

E.g. A player in Super Rugby whos side missed finals would have played on the 2nd-4th of June then 5 weeks later on July 8th. Whereas an English based player who missed the Premiership finals would have gone 13 weeks between May 6th and last weekend.

Japan name a squad with aussies Dylan Riley, Ben Gunter and Jake Cornelsen. Apparently only one specialist lock in the squad. Don't think we'll see any Brighton Miracle Repeats.

Farrell cleared, free to play. Un-fucking-believable
“The independent judicial committee consisting of Adam Casselden SC – chair, John Langford and David Croft (all from Australia) heard the case, considering all the available evidence and submissions from the player and his representative.”

Must be fucken NRL guys….
