Rugby World Cup 2019

Why the hell would you want that Pool? Jesus.
More or less guaranteed quarter final with Italy being so poor currently, and the Repêchage/African teams have typically occupied bottom slots in whichever pools they've found themselves in.

Plus having NZ in the Pools would mean you can't possibly meet them in knockouts until the final itself.

How does the finals work? Who do we face if we win Pool D?

Runner-up pool C. RWC 2015 playoffs went as:

QF1: Winner pool B vs runner-up pool A
QF2: Winner pool C vs runner-up pool D
QF3: Winner pool D vs runner-up pool C
QF4: Winner pool A vs runner-up pool B

SF1: Winner QF1 vs winner QF2
SF2: Winner QF3 vs winner QF4

It's based off qualifying matches.

A top team can miss out because they were kicked out in the qualifiers while a rank 50 team can get it through winning the qualifiers.

I don't know if the winners of the previous cup get auto qualifying but from what I understand the rest all have to qualify.

Much better system, how good would it be if the AB's had a few upset losses and missed out on the World Cup.
No. I was talking about the draw.

Of all the qualifiers, the top 7 ranked sides based on world rankings plus the host go in pot 1 to determine who headlines each pool.

The other qualifiers are grouped by geographic location and the allocated to the pools randomly from there.

Geez I hope that's the case again. Easiest pool, England/France/Argentina in the quarters, Ireland/South Africa in the semis. Avoid the Kiwis until the final.

Then Scotland would get Ireland in the quarter final whereas now they get New Zealand unless they can beat Ireland and then they get South Africa which is also less than ideal.

You're assuming Scotland will be able to dispose of Japan. I doubt whether that is a sure thing.

I was suggesting why Highlander wanted Pool B.

I am guessing he isn't unhappy with Pool A because he doesn't think Scotland can make the quarters from there.

We beat them twice from two attempts with a half strength team playing like crap last June, in Japan.

At this point in time, our aim should be to top the pool, and the pass mark is making the Quarters.

So if both us and NZ win our pools we can't play them until the final. If England win Pool C they would play the All Blacks in the semi.

Ludicrously fortuitous draw. Bit of a contrast to the last world cup which makes me suspicious we will get knocked out early.
