Maybe there is more to it than this, but on the face of it, how can an employer terminate an employee just for making what seemed to be an off-the-cuff remark?
In isolation, the comment seemed to be that he said he wished he had chosen rugby so he wouldn't have to put up with all this shit he had been copping in league (or words to that effect, context unknown).
Hell, I tell my boss I wish I'd chosen another career path everytime he throws a bloody big project at me!
If I got sacked for that, I am pretty sure I would be waltzing away with a nice unlawful termination package.
As far as I am aware, he didn't rape anyone, simulate sex with an animal, glass anyone, punch his girlfriend or take a dump in a hotel corridor. He didn't break into a house and steal anything. He didn't inject himself with pig placenta and swallow a bottle of steroids.
Am I missing something here?
