Rugby Championship 2025 : South Africa v Australia Round 2

Rebel man

John Thornett (49)
James Doleman made so many basic errors, he has absolutely never been up to the international standard and has to be removed from refereeing test matches

I think they will look back on that game and wonder how it got away. It’s one we should have won. Tough breaks losing Whitey and Wright early, and then Sua'ali'i.
Hope we have a full contingent for the next round

Just finished watching game, geez that was good. Boks were deserved winners I think, but by geez one or two moments could of had Wallabies winning, and deservedly. I think the Wallabies hurt a lot losing Nic White, for all McDermott's sniping he short of basic skills to make him a world class 9, mainly his dithering around before passing. But if I was a Wallaby supporter, I would be feeling pretty pleased with the team. I know we like to measure things on results, but a very good coach (Shag Hansen) I heard say a week or so ago, the way to look at tests etc should be the process, not just the outcome. And this Wallaby team, appear to me to have good systems etc in place going forward. JOC (James O'Connor) is going well, but perhaps is struggling to be effective after 60 minutes?
And add Jorgensen scored a try, so points for my Fantasy team, he was one of fist players I put in, he really getting to be world class I believe, as is Nick Frost.

Other thing I laughed at this morning Mrs Dan was watching with me here in NZ, and cheering for Wallabies etc, she said I hope they win, I like this team, they don't seem to be arrogant, and their coaches are n't whinging about refs and how hard done by they are. (Lol she doesn't read rugby forums). But was interesting , I said last week there seemed to be quite a bit of support, and people happy with Wallabies win, so not just her.

When will World Rugby take action on referees like James Doleman? Clearly not up to international standards. How many times does he need to prove it?

You wasted 6 points. It could be 13-13 now
I’ll give you 13-10 Marce, sliding doors come in after that and play would have been up the other end. Even better though would have been if Doleman got the call right leading up to McReight’s try and it should have been 14-13 to us.

I am watching the replay now and can't understand how the referee and TMO missing Kellaway clearly touching Pollard's hand and not the ball as he was making the tackle.

Yeah but winger is the least important position and the easiest to replace. With the Roosters fighting over him, Marky will be very expensive. It would be better to invest that money in the next Meafou and prevent him from going to France
Especially with Toole stepping up, you now have rugby IQ with Jorgensen, big bodies with Potter and Pietsch and pure speed with Toole. That's a decent spread on the outside.

Apologies if this has been mentioned but did Wrignt come off because that South African ape wrenched his leg around the ruck - Ken Catchpole / Colin Meads style? It didnt look good good and if that was the cause of the injury, then the coward needs to spend serious time off the paddock. In the shithole that South Africa is of course.

Enjoyed the bok titty hands.

Match was lawgely humdrum this week. Highlights were Kickbot Pollard getting his shit wrecked near his own tryline by Kellaway and Schalk Burgers hawf-deranged musings,.

"..... it wasnt coffee, it had foam on top and was a golden liquid....."

".....I imagine Cheslin Kolbe has quite a bony little shin....."

Tony Brown in the bok coaches booth wearing his treasonous little boks cap and his treasonous little boks shirt. GTFO *****. Some things money can never forgive.

I’m that nervous I feel sick. I just hope we can keep it competitive and to within 15points (or even win!). I have a feeling Schmidt has urred by not selecting Lukhan on the bench. His size against 10 man Boks rugby would have been welcome. Come on Wallabies!
so you'd have to be happy then Heavy D? Watching JOC (James O'Connor) leave so many points out there and the fact we could have won, makes me feel pretty flat actually.

I hate ref bashing but jeez Doleman missed alot in general play - a few knock ones right in front of him too

I wish we had an injury/penalty time addition added in as well. When we went back for the high shot by kriel on I think edmed the 3 minutes of play lost would have come in handy......

At the end of the day though, as good as O'Connor had been you really don't want to be relying on him to take a clutch kick at the end to keep us in a game.

So frustrating watching that. So many missed opportunities.

Doleman finally warned Kriel in the second half about his whinging - "you keep coming up to me, it needs to stop" where BOK last week had both teams in hand (I think I finally actually prefer BOK as a ref, he seems to have worked on his shortcomings)

Boks wouldn't be really happy with that win, 2 penalties and a conversion the margin. They looked tired and old.

Had three of my fantasy team taken off early too so makes it even worse

JOC (James O'Connor) had a disappointing game off the tee but reasonable otherwise. Certainly a step up over other options used over the past couple of years.

Both Tate and Kellaway were off the boil. Tate's decision making was poor most of the game while AK (Andrew Kellaway) made too many mistakes.

Strong performances by Hooper, Ikitau, Jorgensen, Valetini and Frost. Corey Toole had a promising debut.

In the end the missed conversions and penalty goals were expensive.
