Be curious what impact Heenan might/could have considering he is already part of the coaching group atm (so should already be influencing this team). I mean Foote seems to be doing a reasonable job at the Rebels this season after shifting from under Wessels, so maybe Heenan would bring something more in the drivers seat.

Wessels tried a different path & got the Rebels to play like a RSA side, kick the ball away, take penalty goals, force the opposition into making a mistake. Where Foote wants to play "an exciting" game plan.

Wessels as much as ppl seem to forget was a knock on in goal away from sending the Rebels to a SRAU final, then the next yr a Matt To'omua missed penalty followed by a Ryan Lonergan 55m 82nd min pen away from being 2 & zip before it all fell apart with a 2nd yr of blokes living out of their suit cases.

That reds pack has plenty of club guys tho. Maybe I’m wrong and hope someone corrects me but Blyth and Nongoor from memory are the only ones in the front 5 that have been around since they essentially left school. I just think it’s character, they obviously aren’t at int level talent but surely there is guys playing QPR that are just all about the physicality and the opposition is going in with one eye open that they are going to get smacked around.

I just mean in terms of front row, easts powered their way to a premiership behind a brutal pack & all were ignored come reds time in favor of pathways. Its like the Orlando Magic days everyone is now seeing how hot the sun is when the biggest tree giving everyone shade has been chopped down.

There is a bit of Anthony Hardaway in Tate McDermott

We are making far too many unforced errors.

The big ones are things like Blyth’s card. But there are a bunch of other lazy penalties. Our defensive spacing is all wrong and we had two tries scored where we were just easily outflanked. Dropped balls (both under pressure and without). Numerous times our whole attack stopped because we didn’t seem to know where we were going. We missed tackles we should have made and turned over ball at least 3-4 times we should have had control of at the break down. Twice Daugunu chases kicks and chased too far in with no one on his outside. We missed the tackle and the Brumbies went from being under pressure to being in attack.

Liam Wright I thought was very good. Otherwise I thought everyone else was a mixed bag. Almost everyone did some good things, but everyone made mistakes too and cumulatively we just keep taking the pressure of the Brumbies.

I tried to see the positives in Zander but his scrummaging is just too far below par at this level. To be fair though our whole right 5 has to wear blame for our scrum - but he is just always under pressure.

We really miss the NRC. When Thorn started his tenure he was able to bring through a host of young Wallabies and ground them in NRC and use it to ID guys like BPA, Campbell & Daugunu. Qld probably made best use of it and we seem to have handled losing it the worst.

Sorry for the rambling post - but gee that was disappointing to watch.

McReight and Petaia both very good in an ordinary team performance. Tate with a solid game as well
The Reds are a perplexing side. They have some absolute class talent but as a team they are just fucking pants.

If the rumours that Thorn has scared off a whole bunch of talent are true you have to wonder if the bloke has done more harm than good at the Reds.

As frustrating as tonight was, I still prefer watching the current Reds then the team before Thorn took over.

I think his time as head coach is probably done though.

The brumbies are getting that “know how to win” vibe of the kiwi sides now.

I’m not as worried anymore if we’re beside by 5-10 with 20 to go, you just feel they’ll find a way to get back into it.

let’s see if that holds up against the kiwis though.

Any concessions that the Brumbies are playing class rugby? Or is it really just the errors and poor coaching/conditioning of the opposition that is gifting them the wins?
Both are true but, honestly, did the Brumbies play that much better in the second half than the first? I don't think so. They just kept doing what they do and the Reds capitulated.

There were some Reds players who needed to respond to not being selected for the Wallabies squad..

Tate McDermott was excellent, punctuated by that solo try effort.

Liam Wright, again, is coming into some good form after so much time out injured.

Harry Wilson... hmmmmmmm... not good.

That makes sense. Eddie should pick a 100% Brumbies squad for the next training camp so the other Aussie sides will raise the bar lol
