Awesome.

Still don't quite know how he kept the Sharks player in the air, he was holding only his shorts!

It's bloody lucky they didn't fall off, leaving the lock injured and without pants.

Love it! I've always enjoyed watching the Beast, though mainly his runs in general play. That is some incredible strength right there.

How was the Stormers guy not penalised for grabbing the guy in the air as Beast was bringing him down?

Great work though. gives you a free guy to cover other parts of the field.

Serious risk of spinal injury is greatly reduced by the beast's capability to hold 115kg men in the air with the strength of Hercules, and lower him safely to the ground.

Well hats off to Bekker and Sinclaire waiting for beast to bring the Sharks surfer down. could have been quiet ugly if they went straight into Beast while he lifted the surfer.

Would the Beast have been cited for not placing him down safely and got 5+ weeks for it??

Never can tell with the SANZAR judiciary

Been thinking about that...the IRU might put out a directive to the referees to whistle it up when that happens and before any contact from the opposition is made and issue a penalty against the receiving team for two reasons:

1. Safety concerns i.e. blow it before it gets too dangerous.

2. Wrongful advantage to the receiving team as it takes time for the lifted player to get to the ground thereby his teammates can cover him much more by the time he lands thus the opposing team cannot get at the ball as much as they would have under normal circumstances.

Technically it should have been a penalty to Stormers if Beast had dropped him, lifting and dropping is the only thing that you can do to your own team-mate and get penalised for (besides maybe obstruction)

Yeah, it's a rule, I think, rather than one of the ad hoc instructions. The odd penalty is blown at lineout time for dropping your own player.

Will try to look it up in the rule book later when I have more time.

Reckon you could also get penalised for punching your own team mate, too.

Is that a rule?

10.4 (j)

Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst
that player’s feet are still off the ground such that the player’s head and/or upper body come
into contact with the ground is dangerous play.
Sanction: Penalty kick

I assume this applies to lifting any player from any team, whether it's in a line out or general play.

Most of those foul play laws refer to doing stuff to an opponent. The fact that Law 10.4 (j) doesn't would seem to imply that it is also a penalty if you do it to your teammate.
