Confirmed now that Mitchell is out for the RWC. It is a dislocated ankle and fracture somewhere in his leg.

Great win by the Reds thanks though mostly to the Tahs attacking ineptitude. Beale needed the ball in his hand more as like O'Connor with the Force he is about the only person in the backline capable of sparking anything in attack that could have consistently troubled the Reds. Mitchells injury which pushed him to fullback was about the best thing that happened for the reds.

Scrum dominance does not = forward dominance. Reds had the better of the lineouts and the rest was close enough to be arguable.

Fine, good point. Pick a good front row, Horwill and Sharpe, Pocock, Palu (if he gets fit) and some guy at 6. We need a good scrum this year. End of. Daley / Fainga'a / Shepherdson aren't the top of the list for the first bit, I'd think.

Scotty, spitzhaka, and everyone else who hates rugby - your stock has crashed.

The Tahs got a penalty try a couple of weeks ago. You get 7 instead of 3, and the oppo feels crushed. It was high drama, as well. Resetting on the 50m line isn't quite the same as a classic 5m struggle.

The ref could / should have given a penalty try, and also the Chariots ruling was beyond fucking atrocious, from the time he stood on the wrong side of the maul, looking in the wrong direction, to the time he decided that the Reds should have the put-in. What a goose, who cost the Tahs the game.

I didn't see the post-match interview, but I can believe that Waugh was ungracious. Mind you, if I could pick a captain to play rugby for it would be him.

Higgers deliberately stepped into Drew, but the injury was an accident. Maybe this will draw more attention to this dangerous and unsporting tactic. Too much of the soccer about it for me.

The Reds scored more points therefore they were the best team. Good luck to them, I hope they smash the Kiwis.

fair enough it was a penalty try but the ref should just give it so we can get on with the game instead of camping there. It was okay for 5 minutes then everyone in the crowd got really shitty.

the reds won. credit to them and all that bullshit.

that said there tactics are so negative that im not sure i can quite discuss them. the fact they played a full game with 15 people on the paddock reaffirms my belief that they are playing smoke and mirror rugby and when the wheels come off there going to come off hard.

the number of times a reds offensive forward took someone out without the ball after a ruck was formed only for that hole to be used as a gap, or they hung around offside was just bullshit. Saia will be lucky to make it out of the saders game with his back in tact.

the knock on rule against beales try was such crap and to ad to it, the ref saying he didnt know where the ball was in the tom carter situation but then giving the feed to qld was laughable.

that said, we move on, only one point outside the top six, this can be done, and i dont think qld have the conference won as well as they think anyway.

I'm not sure what your intent is with this post, biggsy, but it sounds suspiciously like you're taking the piss at Drew's expense. I hope not.
I'll let you explain it, or whatever.

wow really? I know some of the Reds fans are been arrogant(just making up for 7 years of taunts from south of the border), but its a two way street.

Have a read back through and see how many tahs fans have tiptoed giving credit to the Reds rather voiced there opinion that they "NSW should have won that one", obviously not big on giving credit where credit is due.

The different, TOCC, is that a number of Reds fans have been full of outright abuse for everyone associated with the Waratahs, including abuse for Waratahs posters on this thread, and those Reds fans seem to have been the ones to have posted by far the most on this thread. I suggest you go back and read the posts. I personally think it's unacceptable and I'm not much inclined to stay here if it continues.

Saying your team should have won is not the same as "fucken this" and "useless that" and "deluded this" for page after page.

Sorry, I didn't quote it but I was mainly replying to

If the reds forwards had capitulated, they would have lost.

I thought the Reds effort was huge, to withstand all that pressure, and I posted as such very early on in this thread (before it went all pear-shaped). The Waratahs forward effort - scrum especially, the maul for the disallowed try, the lineout steal just before that was big. The defensive effort of the Reds was the key to the win, as many other teams might have cracked (despite what The Orc said somewhat churlishly in his interview). The only blemish for the Reds pack was the scrum, they otherwise stood up.

Surely if the Ref isn't going to give a Penalty try the Tahs should have adjusted their tactics around the Ref's interpretation/awarding of penalties.

Hickey in the post match interview mentioned they met with Walsh about his interpretations etc and Walsh is known to award penalty tries if he deems the Defending team are purposely taking down the scrum. However, with the change of Refs, Waugh and Mumm failed to change their mindset and simply hoped on a whim that they'd be lucky enough to get a Penalty Try.

I don't understand why the Tahs and their fans are complaining about the Ref, surely its up to the leadership group to adapt to what is and isn't working. Logically speaking, Waugh should have gone for the 3 points early into the black hole of the game and restarted the game and told the backs to get them back into the same position and rinse and repeat.

Critic how shit the Reds are/were all you want, the fact was, the Tahs did not play smart rugby, they were banking on something that didn't occur.
