Only because referees are so afraid to award penalty tries when the dominant scrum is collapsed repeatedly. On tonight's game you'd say the rule was 4 collapses = a warning and you need at least 3 more to get a try. Disgraceful refereeing.

I'm sorry but the only collapsing that occurred was due to the Tahs doing it themselves.

Kepu's head was constantly lower than his head, Baxters binds were on the players arm (when he was being popped) and Robinson was boring in all night.

The Tahs (and Phil Waugh) were trying to replicate the Chiefs game all over again, they should have just opted for the points instead of constantly failing to get a meat pie.

I though it was one of the worst games I've actually been to, constantly watching scrums being reset for trivial shit (more importantly, Burgess not putting the ball into a steady scrum) was completely unacceptable (and thats from a Hookers perspective).

Better go and have a look again, Holmes was under huge pressure and Shepherdson was folding in on Finger at most scrums to stop the wheel. The Tahs scrum is the ONLY good thing in their whole game.

There is something clearlt wrong with TPN, he makes it to the set pieces and does a few big tackles but his usual dynaism around the field is missing and he spends every break of play on his knees. Better hope Moore is fully fit come RW

The attrition level in these conference grudge matches is tremendous, granted, but TPN is getting worse - in terms of looking like he is going to expire - each match. The comparison to the involvement early in the season is night and day.

And to add insult to injury Carter's try was ruled inconclusive by the TMO. The referee ruled that "I couldn't see" = must have been short. That's a nonsense. Then he ruled that it was a collapsed maul and therefore a turnover. No thought as to why it collapsed on the line when it had stayed up for 15 metres. So the dominant team is penalised because the TMO couldn't see and the magical cause of the collapse must have been the Waratahs. If you believe in fairies.....

Three things that stood out for me.

1. One of my biggest beefs going back to the mid-90s is players scoring all a teams points and winning MOM. I mean they are goalkickers, it's part of their job. Tonight was the first time I've seen a player score all a teams points and be close to worst on ground. Have Cooper even had an average game, the Reds would have done it in a canter.

2. The tahs have looked bad for a while now, but not being able to beat a Reds team that made that many errors and gifted them so much field position is just sad. 30+ minutes of the 2nd half must have been played in Reds 22 (Haven't seen replay yet, sure stats are somewhere).

3. Dean Mumm has the rugby brain of a peanut. Lets go for the try for 30 minutes straight, dominate field position, build repeated penalties and then take 3 points to remain behind and move to the other end where the Reds had not been for the entire match.

It's putting the blame onto something other then the Reds, The ref has that at the back of head when thinking about weather to award a pen try or yellow card. Richie Mccaw does it all the time. Its called the playing the ref.

You NSW kids may be calling for a penalty try but that shit was ridiculous. That was NOT in the spirit of the game. The entire waratahs squad + board ought to be ashamed of themselves for trying to score a penalty try. They should all forfeight the cost of the boredom. 35 minutes of 40000 peoples time at ten bucks an hour = 40000*10/(35/60) = $689655.

PLUS. Money lost to rugby because of people that won't come back after that: I'd guess 5 million in the long term

PLUS. Rugby should have a law like in the NRL, bringing the game into disrepute, $10000 fine per incident.
