Isn't it funny how refereeing decisions even themselve out, last week we were thinking we had been robbed and this week we get a very lucky decision, if the touchie was doing his job we would have only had 14 on the field.

Honestly, it was a sign that no-one should have been sent off for that tackle. From where I was sitting, it only appeared bad due to $BW's legs being ripped from underneath him, while he fell directly on his back?

A few chiefs supporters an stacks of bandwagoners. Why do kiwis living in Brisbane insist on supporting every kiwi team that plays the reds?
Thought the booing when Reds were kicking was quite disgraceful - obviously the real kiwis who love their country are still living in New Zealand and i love them for living there

Rumoured that quade back next week. Will he be run-on or bench. Morahan had his best game of season and seems to be building confidence.

Question is if Quade back does Morahan go to bench and Lucas at 15 or Lucas on bench to cover all.
If they run woth Quade at 10 on attack and 15 in defence then Lucas nearly needs to be 15. Morahans defence is improving but don't think he could do it at 10. Only other option is name Quade at 15. Bad news again for Morahan.

Think IF he is back this week it will be on the bench ready for a crack at the Brumbies.

I suspect he won't come back until after the bye.

Crowd was relatively quiet until the last try of the first half. Then way Kev took that tap and launched himself into the defence seemed to get everyone interested.

36,500 people despite the team being mid table, not really in finals contention and without arguably its biggest drawcard. Great result and very good signs for the next couple of seasons. Dont remember too many regulr games last year with that sort of crowd.

Kev was standing right in front of where we were sitting. I wanted to get out of his way. He was pissed off and fired up. Moment of the game for me.

Slow day at the One Nation office....

Well done to the Reds in getting the win, but I am really surprised there isn't more discussion about the breakdown and Jonkers. His leniency in allowing players on their knees to still play for the ball was for example very noticeable.

Personally, i agree.

Noticed this at the game but at least he was consistent.

Happens everytime. My mother was complaining about Collingwood supporters being disgraceful at the Lions match on Saturday, but I had to explain how much worse it is everytime a NZ side comes here. Personally I choose to take the moral high road.....and yell insults at the instigators!

On a positive note, how good is it to see Peter Hynes on the bench again? Must mean he is back training, even if he doesnt play for QLD, I'd love to see him running around for GPS again.

To be fair, not all of them do. I am mates with a kiwi guy who, even though he still supports the AB's, took out a 3 game Reds membership last year and upgraded to full membership this year. He takes his boy to the games and they support the Reds, no matter who they are playing.

Great game. Thought it was surprising there were hardly any breakdown penalties. Haven't watched the replay but watching it live I thought that (1) the Chiefs seemed to be going off their feet a bit and also not rolling away (2) the Reds were using their hands an awful lot after a ruck had formed and/or while not supporting their weight.

Although that affected the speed of the recycle the lack of penalties seemed to mean that both teams wanted to keep the ball in hand and have a good crack - there wasn't that fear of "if we hold on to this in our own half we may get pinged so jeez we better kick it somewhere ASAP". There needs to be a balance between penalising the life out of the game and giving players enough incentive to hold on to the ball and run with it.

The other thing that stood out to me at the game was the amount of work that Gill gets through. Tackle, attempt to rip, comes straight out that ruck, makes the next tackle, to his feet, attempt to rip, back to the defensive line, tackle etc..... Was really impressed by his workrate.

I have on critcism for Gill, and don't get me wrong I think he is a freak, but he tends to avoid making dominant tackles and instead drags the player down to allow him a chance for a pilfer. Which is alright when it comes off, but he gains most of his turnovers in other ways, haven't really seen this tactic work too many times for him. It lead to a couple of missed tackles yesterday and it often allows the ball runner to gain an extra 5m's and further momentum to the attacking side.

I know this is just a small thing, but probably the only aspect of his game that needs improving.

I understand your point Tigerland but remember his size. He is giving away many kilos to most players on the field including the backs. He will develop physically over time and then he could look at more of a dominant tackling style.

The reality is though with the current laws as long as you dont end up with the attacking players body on top of you then you are at an advantage to get the pilfer.

And finally I would think that he would drop off more tackles if he didnt go low which would create more issues for the whole Reds system.

How effective is he at pick and go's? His body height technique is ridiculous.

Fair play to the fleewee's in brisbane, many of them are starting to get behind the reds. Same with a lot of the Samoan and Tongan community. Great to see the 'new' Australian's supporting the reds and rugby in Queensland.

I wasn't watching that game last night and thinking "I wish there were more dominant tackles".

as long as this doesnot occur within 5m of the line then I am happy to give up some ground to pilfer the ball

I see lots of peeps who look like they Samoan/Maori/Tongan heritage in Reds jerseys and Reds shirts etc at the games these days. The booing is disappointing though, whoever does it. I know it's become part of the Theatre of the game these days, but I still cringe. It feels like bad sportsmanship to me.

It was just like the Crusaders fixture at Suncorp last season. So many vocal Kiwi's, so many Kiwi's filing out with minutes still left in the game hahahaha

I love seeing the Reds play like it means something. Ant removing peoples legs in vicious tackles, Higgers getting stuck in, Kev getting fired up. But at the same time having the clarity and presence of mind to allow Will to make those sniping runs, Lucas to get his runners in order, and Harris just dinting their confidence with that field goal.

I think Ben Lucas needs to tape his head up every week! He saw that try line and got low and went for it.
