I'm loathe to be overly critical of the players. That was a very inexperienced side and I thought they really needed some hard heads.

But I cant really see how either Stiles or O'Conner can be in the running for next year. Across the board there are too many different coaching issues - we need a different approach.

I wonder if anybody who has been critical of McIntyre this year noticed that with the change of 10 the attack setup was exactly, EXACTLY, the same. 10 metres back from the gain line. Perhaps McIntyre should have been cut some slack for doing what he was told, and it also neatly explains why despite some people's mystification he was selected every week.

So with a change of 10 did it change anything in execution over the top of the structure? Not that I could see.

I would think that neither Stiles nor MOC could be seriously considered for the HC role. The forwards have been inconsistent at set piece and generally well beaten everywhere else against nearly all opposition, and the backs simply woeful.

Even taking out the squad age excuse, the basic structures just haven't been there. I really think the Reds need to look elsewhere for coaches and not just in the Ballymore carpark.

WTF was that? MOC and Stiles kiss your arses goodby for Reds HC 2017. ARU pull your f'ing heads in about foreign coaching stock.

Need to dig very deep to move this ahead.

First up defence was crap. Looked like men against boys. Coaching staff are a waste of time.

That game was a f*****g disgrace.
For fucks sake YOU ARE ALL PROFESSIONALS, LEARN TO HOLD ON TO THE F*****G BALL!!!!:mad::mad::mad:
It is a miracle that the Chiefs did not put 70+ on us because that gameplan and execution was a load of crap.
I left after 60 minutes - the ONLY time I've ever done that ever since I became a reds member.
We are NEVER gonna win the Bled back again - the Kiwis are too skilled, too strong, too powerful, too everything.
Honestly I'm surprised that SANZAAR hasn't thought about kicking all the Aus team out of the comp, like what they are doing in the netball.
MOC and Stiles need to go - we need to throw as much cash as we can at Blackadder or Rennie or even Matt Taylor.
MOC being seen as the front runner means its just more jobs for the f*****g boys - no f*****g accountability at all.
Aus rugby will be dead in 5-10 years if we continue down this path, and I am afraid that we will.

Ok now that I've calmed down a little, a few musings:
  • reds defence was horrible
  • Pickle's kicking was terrible
  • Paia'aua was ok but well beaten
  • Chiefs defence started to break when the reds got quick ball & players were constantly in motion
  • Should have thrown more inside passes - IMO the chiefs looked vulnerable to that
  • a couple of short kicks in behind early on (why does this not happen anymore?) would have been effective against the rush defence of the chiefs
  • Kerevi was shut down
  • Nabuli & Kuridrani were the best for the reds

Plenty of people were walking out at 60 minutes. I have never seen that before - not with 20 still to go.

It was genuinely woeful. Every aspect of the game was a total failure, even things that have been strong this season like the scrum and lineout. They just gave up once the yellow cards came out and didn't bother showing up for the second half at all.

This game made me ashamed to be a Reds fan.

If either of the "incumbents" are promoted to head coach I will find it very difficult to support the Reds at all next season. Philadelphia has enough basket case sports teams for me.

I have been highly critical of McIntyre, and whilst the setup was the same for the most part, Paia'aua played much differently. He will hold the ball, take it to the line more often than standing and dishing. Playing at line helps reach the gain line more effectively, or not losing as many metres. The first phase play to the Kuridrani try was a good example of lead up work from a flatter attack and a 10 who will take a hit.

Secondly, McIntyre is one of the the most ineffective defenders in Super Rugby, constantly dropping off and allowing metres past contact. Paia'aua as a natural centre, is sound in defence and put on a great cover tackle at one point.

Paia'aua's kicking was the weak point. If you can't see the difference between the 2, I'm sorry I can't help you. The difference may not have been clear last night because the result was the same, but over a few games you will see that they way Duncan plays will open up alot more opportunities.

Well went to the game, and have to agree looked like teams fron different divisions playing each other. Chiefs looked to do everything at pace, and Reds looked to be trying to decide how to attack when they got ball instead of just letting natural instincts take over. Hell Chiefs looked like they really enjoy themselves playing the game, not sure the Reds did. And although the Reds tried hard, they look at times bloody lazy, at one stage Chiefs put through a kick, whole team chased and were lined up to attack or defend, and about 5 Reds were slowly trotting back BEHIND the Chiefs!!

Yeah - Ms MungoSpouse and I left our seats before the final whistle, which is an absolute rarity for us. The few other times have been when the Reds were so far in front they couldn't lose.

Did I mention absolute rarity?

I don't think anyone enjoyed that game TBH

Fuck we need some real backs, ones that can kick, pass and catch the ball AND TACKLE.

I fucking feel for blokes like Slipper, Gill, Douglas (even though only second game), Holmes, Ready and Kerevi who try hard every week, are all champion rugby players who want to win and support the fans. The Captain has to front the media every week and try and remain positive - tough job.

We need a clean coaching broom and both interim co-HC's should be terminated next week (5 minutes after the last game).

I am also extremely disappointed for the Reds faithful.

Fucking 2017 has to be better !

That was a lively run by Browning, just as he's coming into his own he announces he's buggering off to France, something he'd apparently decided to do some time ago. A shame. I sincerely hope someone's got the commonsense to keep track of his French contract expiry date. Or is even that beyond the ken of the QRU?

Probably 1-2 years at a guess. Can't find anywhere that says contract length. Its was gonna be either him or Schatz, and they chose Schatz.
