Reds v Waratahs - Sat 15th Mar - Suncorp

Major Tom

21 year old no.8 playing like that... What could have been for the U20s if he didn't get the knee injury.

Even in the limited games he's shown I think he'd be worth a 4 year contract. Players like that at 8 make your 9,10 better.
Yeah I watched him play in the 2023 U20 tournament he was an absolute handful for defenders! I didn't realize he could have played another year! It certainly looks like he's gotten taller since then too.

The fact that Gleeson has been signed by a French club means he's clearly a talent. But he doesn't have the height that Talataina does.
The difference between French clubs and the rest is they can afford to buy more players and if they don't make it move on. It's a bit like the league system.

The issue with Aus rugby is that we have not had a lot of talent to choose from apart from wingers and backrow. Now we have talent coming through and it with that our expectations rise.

We move on quickly here.

3 yrs ago Hooper was untouchable for most Tah fans. Then Gamble came along and Hooper needed to go and Gamble should be the Aussie 7. Now he’s shit.

Only 2 years ago Gleeson was the next big thing and several posters, Qwerty in particular, couldn’t see why we weren’t picking him for the Wallabies. Now we are moving on from him and the new guy in is going to be an upgrade.

I do wish players were more loyal though.
Bit of a necessity these days...

I’m not even paying attention to the rest of your post because in no world does adding 6 Wallabies make their situation even worse to last year.
The Tahs also lost 6 Wallabies, Pietsch, Perese, Swinton, Hanigan, Holloway and HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes).

No proper Tahs fan EVER said Gamble was better than Hooper. That's wishful thinking from banjo twangers and pony riders who thought their bloke was better than Hooper at the time.

I wish Gleeson was staying but he's not... I think a lot of people are just impressed by Leafi and his seemingly bright future.

I miss Qwerty
Yeah sure. My comment is largely tongue in cheek.

I have no issue with people being impressed by young talent and have made my own share of ‘future Wallaby’ predictions myself.

I do find it amusing though how quickly and how far some players fall from grace.

There were definitely Tah fans calling for the Tahs to move on from Hooper. You may say they weren’t proper fans - but don’t keep blaming us or Brumbies fans every time you guys turn on each other.

I was thinking that it would be appropriate, now that the Holy Designated Messiah 2.0 McReight has been re-signed, for Tah fans to start castigating him after each game for 'not being a proper 7' or 'being too small and ineffective' - even where he is clearly the best rugby football player on the field from either side more often than not.

Ah, Tahs threads back to the norm of us Tahs fans falling for stinky bait from our rival fans and gnawing at the bones of a dismal performance......

Gotta say, I'm loving the passion in this thread, surely that's a positive indicator for the health of the competition. Even if most people are just arguing over which Qld coach is worse.

TBF, I'd rather both coaches stay with their current teams for now.

There was definitely passion at the ground with the crowd - lots of boos at calls which went the Tahs way that I head on the TV. Crowd seemed more lively than the Tahs home crowd the week before.

Just hoping Tahs can bounce back next week.

Likewise..

I dont really want any of the Super Rugby coaches leaving the clubs, nor am I sold that any of them are the right person to take over the Wallabies, they all have their flaws or haven't done enough to justify. But I also don't know who is..

Absolutely. The emotional rants by some fans bitchin' about Kiss being supposedly preordained to WB coach and targeting anything Reds fans say in support of the guy - it's more than irksome. I not only don't want Kiss leaving for the WBs I am expecting that the Reds extract a really painful recompense from RA for the temerity of doing it. I definitely don't want us hunting out of cycle for a new coach because the RA are in a pickle. From a Reds perspective I don't care what Super coach may be chosen as long as it is not Kiss. Leave the bloke alone to finish his current job, hopefully he takes us to a final - then you can talk about the next move. Personally I think we should be looking well outside of Super. Btw, what is the "coaching pathways" horseshit here? What have RA done with respect to development of the Reds current HC? Approved his contract?

It is going to be a long f'ing season if we have to deal with this shite in the game thread every time the Reds have a decent performance.
