How are you Queenslanders feeling about this one?

I reckon the Reds will bounce us, tbh. Wallaby selection for the incumbents is on the edge and they'll be working to pull some reputations out of the fire.

I am ambivalent about this one.

really ?

i didn't think you would be ambivalent about anything red.

this is a game that could go either way, the rebels on "current form" should really beat the reds on "current form", but that was last week. as i said above will our defence wear down your attacking resolve ? intriguing game given the back story in Queensland.

Guys I just want too point out one thing that's been missed in the hair pulling and chest beating on here since the Crusaders game.
The Reds went completely missing for one quarter of the game. Of the other three they won two and drew the other.
I actually thought they played some of their best rugby this year in that game. And to comeback and win the last quarter after being smashed in the third took a lot of heart.
The Reds Can win this if they can put an entire match together and they don't read the sport reports.
It all depends on their reaction to that horror quarter.

And this is not a too dissimilar story for the Rebels vs 'Canes match. It was relatively close in the first half (we had the lead up until the 37th min). After the break the first 20min was a cavalcade of confusing penalties and Rebel brain farts that resulted in a number of 3 pointers and that try at the 57th min. The last 15 we played much better and witnessed Tamati get some meat and Tom almost get some. Not sure if we out-scored them in that period, but it was certainly better play.

I predict a close match here.

According to footytips.com.au the bookies are quoting $1.63 for a Reds win and $2.30 for the Rebels. Fair enough. Even though the Reds got a bit of a pantsing last week they still scored four tries while we've only managed 30+ points in three games this year. Defence is going to need to be as tight as a fish's bum this Saturday.

2 of which were when the crusader were down a man, not the 1st time that has happened this season.
So if the rebels can manage to get a At least one bloke binned the reds may have a better chance of winning. 2 rebels binned at the same time would be even better.

I have succumbed to the fact that I can just handle coming last in the AUS conference. But not last in the over all comp so a little help would be nice.

so biggsy you want us to win by 7 or less whilst allowing you guys to score 4 tries.

M

Mate I have no clue what is needed to be done as I have lost interest with points, bonus point, for and against and what ever else.

I just want a bloody win
well so do we
5 "almosts", "shoulda", "coulda" but didn't in a row is really beginning to wear a bit thin for the rebel faithful

Putting everything else aside, if the Reds lose at home to the Rebels, the undercurrent of discontent could become a tsunami. Richard Graham, rightly or wrongly, could be on the receiving end of a whole lot of noise.

The Reds faithful would not be at all keen to go back to the bad old days after only a very brief moment in the sun.

Having said that, the Rebels are not playing bad footy. Reduce the turnovers and penalties by 20% and suddenly they are back in the ballgame and looking dangerous.

Conventional wisdom would have the Reds winning this comfortably at home. But still, I sniff a chance. If the Rebels get the same sniff, the Reds could be in trouble.

I'm going to have to support the Rebels in this one. Nothing personal against the Reds, I just think Richard Graham is a turn coat prick and a loss might help him get what he deserves.

I'm surprised at your attitude Charger.

If RG was still at the Force, do you think you would be in the finals, let alone fighting for a shot at the title? I don't, and nor do most people.

I would have thought you would be pleased to have a coach that can forge a tight, winning team after 7 years of being in the wilderness. So why be bitter about RG? By him leaving, you are now within spitting distance of real success so he probably did you a favour, even if he didn't mean it.

Enjoy it while you can and recognise the glass is half-full for a change.

Seriously.

Think the Reds will come out this week and fire up.

The players will be (or should be) looking over their shoulders for 2015 Reds season and beyond and Horwill Genia and QC (Quade Cooper) for Wallaby run-on selections.

Add to that the mounting pressure on RG and I predict (maybe to my peril) a vast turnaround.

Reds by 24 and a Bonus Point

S2050, you may recall I took a similarly hopeful line for a Reds win driven by 'pride, passion and despair' vs the Blues. I really thought a 'senior players firing up to revive the long lost 'best of the Reds' ' type recovery was probable, it just had to happen didn't it?

With the awful train wreck of a loss vs the Blues I then realised: the team's coherence, confidence, esprit de corps, capacity to hold or execute a game plan, trust in each other, all this was totally and utterly shot. The team was in fact in true mental state and skills state disarray. The degradation of the 2011 Reds was near total. Yet even worse was to come in 2H vs Cru.

I have to say I came home on Sunday night from Suncorp somehow shattered, if one can ever be made that by being a fan of a team, and I now suppose one can.

Something that once had given my young son and me so much enjoyment, fun, real fascination in its building, and great entertainment and local pride had been reduced to something weak and lost that I could barely recognise in the shadowlands of it all. Something I had come to love, become a real part of, had died and a little corner of my everyday happiness had now gone too. Very sad, as much as shattered.
