Reds v Moana Pasifika Rd2 Friday 21 February Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane 7:35pm

I hope we're not underestimating Moana here...
I think it's more about coming home strong, and balancing the front rows a bit better. That said, I believe Asiata is pretty highly rated at Ballymore at the moment so there could be a desire to get him more involved from the jump.

On paper it's a BP win to the Reds.

You get Moana on the end of a road trip to start the season coming off a heart breaker v the Force in the heat. Reds with good trials, break and home game to kick things off.

We might see the Moana bubble burst for the year if the Reds can do a job on them.

This would have to be a $1.2 to $3.8 game?

Yeah you'd expect the Reds forwards to have it over Moana, the backs i'm not as sure on.. MP (Moana Pasifika) dont have the explosive power they had in previous seasons in the backline but there still a pretty big backline by comparison to the Reds, and Kyren Taumoefolau on the MP (Moana Pasifika) wing has just as much speed and finishing ability as Tim Ryan, just slightly bigger. Expect he will snag a try at least.

In Kiss we trust - but I think it's Faessler best hooker in Australia, daylight second.

I hope our set piece isn't a shit show to start the game because that is one area we should have it all over Moana.
Moana's second string front row were pretty impressive against the (admittedly understrength) Force so maybe he's taking that into consideration with starters verse bench.

I can't say I'm not worried about this one, but the bookies having Qld as firm favourites is giving me some comfort.

Friday games - especially those with daylight-savings adjusted kickoffs - are generally pretty low draws. Couple that with this not being a 'rivalry' game, and it being the Reds' first game of the season, I think it'll be closer to 13k.
yeh unfortunately a bit of a dud for the first round which is a shame

I mean, its all relative to everyone's situation right?

I am going tomorrow night and it's really convenient for me. I am going with a corporate crew, we can walk up to Caxton Street from town, enjoy some sunset beers and then head to the game. No stuffing around getting Uber's anywhere or rushing. I imagine they'd sell a lot more corporate packages on Friday.

I could be wrong but don't the Broncos draw their biggest crowds on Friday nights? That and Sunday arvo.

Whilst I’m loving the look of this Reds team and think they are top 4 quality I am cautioning some here thinking that a 20 point win tomorrow night is on the cards. I believe you are in for a lot closer game than you think.

The problem isn't Friday, it's Friday during daylight savings when the kickoff is an hour earlier, it makes it just that much more difficult to get to after work if you've got any considerations other than heading straight there.

Probably wouldn't be as much of an issue of daylight savings kicked in at the back end of the season once there was a bit of momentum, instead of the start.

What are you talking about? No one here as expressed that sentiment. At most there has been one person (not a Reds fan) suggesting the Reds should be aiming for a BP (which is absolutely true for any home game for a "top 4 quality" side against a lower ranked side), but that's not the same as a 20 point win and the vibe is overwhelming one of excessive caution and trepidation.

Dolphins and Broncos kickoff at 7.05pm during Daylight savings and move to 8pm during ‘regular time’.

Might be something for SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) to consider in the future particularly during the Feb games when it can still be quite hot at kickoff time.

As previously highlighted. Great for those who work in the city.

No-one else though.

It's a bit short sighted and elitist to be focusing on just corporate.

Are you actually trying to imply that playing professional sports on a Friday night is short sighted and elitist?

Better get you in front of all the major sporting bodies around the globe, you’ve cracked the code!
