Fortunately the Reds seem to have gained the experience needed to win games when not playing well but I'm sure they'll be looking for a major step up in intensity next week.

They'll need to be switched on for about 15-20 minutes next week, that's all. Its the trip to SA where the intensity will be required.

Good that we are winning while not playing great. Being only Round two I am not worried about it.

Shit night wasn't it? One of those nights in Brisbane where after to rain there is so much humidity that nothing dry's out and everything is slippery.

Bam, Is an absolute pest. It was his type of night. The only comment my father had when we were leaving was "how much ball would the reds be winning if we had of been able to keep him in queensland".

Morahan was rubbish in defence, let in 2 tries with little effort - dare I say worse defence than Quade?

FTA missed dearly, Force looked dangerous every time they pushed it wide. Samo and Robinson out there covering back won't hold up for long.

Tapuai's try a cracker, ball service 7has been terrible, digby et al can't run onto the ball, as it's always high/low/behind the player, Taps can catch them and keep his momentum.

Samo played within himself, didn't get too involved then picked that inside pass play like a genius and smoked them.

No announcer at the game after the Volvo and McDonanlds advertising... very eerie. Maybe the rain shorted out the gear or something.

Reds scrum improved as the game went on, but my seats aren't good enough to give a proper review.

Finally back from the game (and post game socialising). That was a terrible game with very little atmosphere at the ground. Obviously the weather didn't help but overall I was very disapointed with both teams.

Fortunately the Reds seem to have gained the experience needed to win games when not playing well but I'm sure they'll be looking for a major step up in intensity next week.

Is it really 'experience needed' or more likely 'Harris is back from injury and is kicking 100%'.

I doubt we'd have won v Tahs with QC (Quade Cooper) kicking. And the pressure on the Force was relentless from Harris' boot.

The fragile and inconsistent manner in which the Reds are currently playing indicates that if Harris gets injured, we could be in for a world of hurt.

As Schad has said, Morahan's tackling intensity and application was embarrassing, he should be dropped as punishment. He's not playing well either.

After watching that game last night, I came away convinced of the view that, despite Link's assurances, the 2012 Reds are subtly complacent and over-confident they're a 'given' winning machine. Harris incredible kicking talent is in effect masking and exacerbating this truth as the 2012 machine has become hugely reliant upon him as the Reds botch try opportunity after opportunity and indulge poor defense.

It may also be true that the coaches need a bigger dose of fear before things change.

Reds with Cooper can score tries though..

Agree but I don't conclude it's Quade's long bullet pass, jinks etc that are the current try-reducing ingredient in the 2012 Reds. It's generally poor, rushed passing overall, backs positioning rusty and hesitant, poor handling (see Simmons last night), etc. I honestly don't think a returning Quade is the auto-fix for all this, and more 5 pointers just return with him.

IMO, something has gone somewhat wrong with the Reds training, preparation, or mental condition as a team, or all of these. I think it's been there in both games so far; rustiness was a good PR line v Tahs, but it was there almost as much in the game last night. Certainly the Reds of 2011 would rarely if ever have given the Force those walk-through tries in that manner, etc.

In Samo's earlier life he was a winger so knows how to run.
Simmons injury ( dislocated finger) from last week affected his ball handling.
Schatz stepped up well with Higgers out.
Force camped all over Digby.
Disruption from injuries has made an impact however good to see younger players like Quirk holding their own.
Biggest concern for me was the loose ball on the ground not being treated with any emergency, letting the ball bounce from opposition kicks and the line-outs in the first half.
Otherwise I hope the rest will sort itself out with time played and not so HOT and HUMID conditions. I thought it was too bloody humid just watching the game without having to run around in it.

i would move hm to fullback and go back to QC (Quade Cooper) playing fullback on defence like last year.
I think Harris also gives better options againts good defence as he is a decent kicker, I think with Digby, Taps and A Faiinga together we hve very limited kicking in general play, I am unsure of the other kicking options,'sure they can all kick but not to Harris' standard.
I think the big advantage of the return of QC (Quade Cooper) will be his passing, this seems obvious, but after watching our centres i think the passing this year seems a little off, I think that this isa sign that they ar getting slow ball not on the chest and they dont have time to pass themselves.

To give the boys their due, at time I wouldn't look up for the ball let alone see the f*&^%^&* thing if I did. Otherwise agree with all you have said.
Albert didn't have a good debut. Shows that we are a bit shallow on hookers, front rowers in general.
Handling was shit on both sides but the reds seem to have lost their hunger.
This game shows why Poey really is close to the best player in the world. F*&^$%# pest!!!!!! I do need to stick up for him against those spectators who were abusing him though. He left QLD because the QRU wouldn't give him a contract and the Force did. Live with it. They f&^%*(^ it not him.
Form initial live viewing the reffing didn't seem really good live. I was surprised to see that there was only 8(?) penalties in the first half. Whistle seemed to be going all the time, and there were a few high shots and not ball releasing that were missed. Change mid 2nd half didn't help. Ref's seem a bit fragile this year.
Thank god we won, but if we play like that against the kiwi's and saffa's we are going to get a towelling.
It doen't look like my recording worked so I will now need to find a replay to make further comment

Oh and I fogot to say there seems to be a lot of niggle this year in the Oz derbies. Was suprised that Poey and Sharpie got involved, thought they would have had more sense. And there were wuite a few incidents off the ball that weren't pulled up. Not sure if they were showen on the broadcast. I don't mind a bit of niggle and push and shovle, but the arms on throats is a bit hard to take. Knock it off fellas, that is dangerous and stupid.

It's a great relief knowing the We finally have goal kicker, will make a big difference when the Reds play the Better teams in the comp, thats when all the small mistakes will have to be sorted out..... Reds have a easy draw to start the comp, but it will come to head when they travel to Kings park in a couple of weeks...
As for the crowd the rain make a big difference, but it would be great to get those numbers for the rest home games....

Game had its moment, and not having the starting hookers I think the Force got of lightly. After what i saw at Reds training There would have been a few more tries if Saia was fit to play, Albert also needs to be there and get game time if the Twin are off to Japan next year...
Genia is turning is turning into the world best Rugby player if not all ready.. All round rugby skills, he has the lot. And love how he sticks up the his teams mate when they fuck up.
