Given the weather at the start, that was more entertaining than I thought it would be.
In the Tahs game and this the Reds are yet to really fire... But they're 2/2! They won this one by intercepts and Harris' amazing boot. I guess they'll build throughout the season.

Harris back to fullback when Quade returns?

A scrappy game but the downpour at the beginning of the match pretty match dictated the game plan for both sides.

The Reds will take that win, but that period where they dropped that intensity and let the Force in will hurt them against better teams and needs to be fixed if they are to retain their title. The missed tackle count won't please the coaching staff and rightly so.

With the Force, their backline won't win them any games in the current formation. Through no fault of his own Stannard has found himself thrown into the flyhalf role and is busting his arse and won't give up. We could harp on about 5 finger Willie but the 2 centres outside Stannard wouldn't give many opposition players nightmares and that goes onto the next problem of Nalaga who hasn't been given many opportunities to show what he is worth. There was one phase where he and the Honey Badger got the ball on a backline move and it looked ok, but 1 or 2 chances a match is not good enough at this level for a player who was carving up the French Top 14.

I enjoyed Samos try. He is fast for a big guy because he has high knee lift. So does Higgers.
Watch the slow tall guys. The Tahs have a couple. When they start their run and when they break into full stride, they barely lift their knees. Despite all their power and long legs they are taking 1.5 strides for everyone 1 of Samos strides. Thats why theyre slow. Some of these guys need to see a sprint coach.

Commentary mentioned that Harris would have broken a Reds scoring record if they'd let him take a shot with that last penalty. Still it was good to see them go for the try. If he keeps it up he deserves to keep his spot when QC (Quade Cooper) comes back but I don't think it will be at the expense of QC (Quade Cooper) being benched, at least not after he's had a few runs out to get match fit. I don't think Genia's grubber DG technique will catch on.

Its almost as thought Harris has emerged as the perfect foil for every teams plan to beat the Reds..

Im sure every team identified that quick ball was the catch phrase which dominated the Reds 2011 season, so in 2012 a lot of teams have come in with the plan to slow this ball down(albeit legally or illegally), whilst this may be impacting the try-scoring potential of the Reds, it has paid dividends in the goal kicking department.

That was just shit. Another game the Force could of won if they had taken their chances. Reds two try's were opportunist on the counter whilst Force on the attack. Its the difference between a team that is assured and confident and one that is unsure of it's place and standing in the comp. Force better in the second half with Sheehan benched. Stanley still not sure about him. Dellit some handling errors...maybe rusty. Force pack good. Still not getting the ball out to Nalaga and getting him involved as much as required. Honey Badger pretty shit night....only decent take was the final mark in goal to end the game. I think Cummins may need to turn into a battering ram in the centres cause he isn't getting involved on the wing.

Nearly home from the game. I smell like a wet dog thanks to the Misses deciding I didn't need my raincoat as much as my niece did. Was a strange match live. No atmosphere at the match and the only guy reving the crowd up got kicked out by suncorp stadiums fun police. Seriously I have never seen a place more intent on stopping punters from enjoying themselves. I need to head home and see if it's better on tv.

Second game in a row where the Reds have switched off around the 50 minute mark.

The downpour at kick off really killed the crowd atmosphere as people were left scurrying for shelter instead of waiting for the teams to run out. And people then relocated throughout the stadium rather than being bunched together to create a buzz.
Also seems like the "We Are Red" bloke had the night off - or at least spent the 2nd half trying to work out how to salvage a botched McDonalds halftime promo.

Oh well, 2 games - 2 wins. Not bad considering we were missing 4 of the first choice starting side this week but was dissappointing not to score any 2nd half tries.

Onwards and upwards for the Reds - need to head to South Africa 3 from 3. Bring on the Rebels!

yeah they did your right forgot bout them as well. But 2nd round look much better than the 1st round. They made less handling errors in soaking wet conditions as they did in dry weather

"Well that was shit." Matt Taylor (Reds defence coach) post-match. Touché tattsy, touché.

Finally back from the game (and post game socialising). That was a terrible game with very little atmosphere at the ground. Obviously the weather didn't help but overall I was very disapointed with both teams.

Fortunately the Reds seem to have gained the experience needed to win games when not playing well but I'm sure they'll be looking for a major step up in intensity next week.
