very hot in Brisbane today so I can forgive some of the poor handling by the reds in tight, Digby Ioane was my MOM today he is just pure class.

That try by MMM should never have been brought back as there was a lineout in between the shoulder charge(and it was) and the try being scored.

The TJ's should have stopped play at the lineout even though it was a quick thrown in.

Damn that was hot 36 degrees. Not a day for playing rugby. Shees we muffed some chances. We put have put on a Bulls score against that rabble.

Better by Berrick. Frustrating by Quade. Great by Hynes and Ione. Promising by MacLindon - he needs to back himself more.

MMm was fantastic. Bloody Laurie Weekes.

And you're right. I was calling for Connor when Brando fluffed that chance.
Now we continued our trend and put in a poor performance (winning very comfortably) so that means we will play damn well next week. Short turnaround will be hard though. Can't see Van playing. He was battered.

Need to start Genia next week v Burgess.

Haven't watched replay yet.

i think Van just had the wind knocked out of him, he did also hurt his nose i think, but shouldnt be anything to prevent him from playing next week...

Byrnes might be a bit of a liability(or asset) if he was on the field, after the trial-match issue.

Oh my god Laurie Weekes & Brando nearly cost me a new TV after I almsot put my remote through it, they both need a good kick in the arse.

I'm pretty sure that Van Humphries will be right for next week.

Yep, Genia has leapfrogged Lucas in my pecking order.
Where do we stand on the ladder now?
9th

Lucas may be the best kicker in the side, but going on his kicking performances it probably couldnt do us any worse if he wasnt starting.

Frustrating he may be at times but gee QC (Quade Cooper) does a lot of good things. He probably frustrates because he does too much at times but his kicking and particularly passing game are right up there.

Ioane was excellent yet again, how is the guy's leg drive? Agree Nod, Barnes was better, and McLinden has performed well at the back. Connor has really impressed when he has come on.

Maybe we expect too much, I was happy with the win, and if a few passes had stuck it could have been a blow out. At least they are backing themselves and I hope they continue in the same vein next week

spec, agreed Cooper. Still playing much more consistent footy than last year. Just those random stone cold drops that frustrate me.

So anyway, how costly a lost bonus point? we are 9th at the moment, and the bonus point would have leap frogged us over the Crusaders into 8th, due to our superior for and against. In fact our for and against is superior than Brumbies and Blues as well.

It is certainly going to be the battle of two very different styles next week.

I can't say that I was frustrated by Cooper. He might have made a few mistakes (dropped ball and poor mid field bomb), but he creates a lot more than he loses for us. He is also proving to be just as good (if not better) as Barnes at kicking for field position. I don't want him to go into his shell because he is too worried about making a mistake - he would just end up making them anyway and not creating enough. Pretty much what happened to Latho when he started playing for the Wallabies, and was under pressure to be more reliable. As soon as he had the confidence of being there, and being able to back himself when he saw fit he started playing better.

With a few years more experience we may well see Cooper rated as one of, if not the best 10 in the world come 2011 RWC.

Would Connor be in line to mark Tuqiri next week? This might count against him.

Hynes would mark Lote I reckon. He's the specialist Lote marker since that game (probably the last time we beat them) up here when Hynes was still a no name and people still thought Lote was good.

Opens up Connor to go up against Turner, which is worth while to consider.

I reckon he will. You can't continue to reward the mistakes that Va'aulu has made the last couple of weeks (v the Cheetahs in particular).

Houston holds his spot due to previous form, but with Jimmy Horwill due back soon he needs to watch out.

Laurie Bloody Weekes, well who knows what happens there. Edwards coming back wouldn't surprise to help freshen up the team a bit.

Weekes scrummaged quite well against some big units.

But I am sure his propensity to seagull has been noticed.

The 34 degree temperature also affected the Reds? big men, with lock Van Humphries losing seven kilos by match end.

Gee I'd be surprised, unless he took a dump somewhere during the game. A litre of sweat every 11 minutes with no rehydration?? Sounds a little bit like some pre-match hyperbole for next week if you ask me.

well no its not just sweat, he is also expending energy which is also burning off food and water inside him, and whilst 7kg is pretty extreme, i have witnessed guys in the 5kg loss region quite a few times.
