If anyone doesn’t think cocaine use is rife in Australian rugby, and Australian sport in general, they are sniffing the wrong roses.

To be fair LB, you can make the argument that Hunt and Slipper were repeat offenders while as it stands, 'The Brand' has only been caught once.

But I agree, it'd be a bit hypocritical to bring him into the organisation.

I think part of it is the differentiation between giving someone a second chance who made a mistake elsewhere and needing to set the standard that the behaviour won't be tolerated at your organisation and whilst you'd like those players to get a second chance, it won't be at the same club where they did the wrong thing.

Of course all this regarding JOC (James O'Connor) is complete speculation at this point.

Haha - okay. Fair enough - but I like my little world of naive utopia, so I’m going to continue to believe the majority of guys are clean.

Clear difference is that one was at a different environment when the incident occurred. Also he has already served his penance.

Sale from all reports is where wayward players go to get rehabilitated. It must have a strong club culture.

Are players role models? I don't think they should be but they are like it or not.

I can handle giving a young bloke a second chance, but not many more than that.

We should set an example that it takes more than just skill to be a modern day complete footballer, and new players should be aware that their off field antics can and will affect their ability to keep a professional contract.

I dont like Brad Thorn as a coach but admire his determination to have high standards on and off the field. I cant see him wanting JOC (James O'Connor), but I can see him being forced to have him.

Still looks pretty slick, playing 12 in all these highlights. I like that he holds the ball in two hands.

I don't want puritanism thrust into the world of Sport. It has led to some actions at the Reds I consider less than questionable. His role is not anything to do with anti drug crusades or similar. The CEO needs to get the bloke under control.

But I am warming to him as coach. Let's see where it takes us.

I dunno, his stats for the recent season are pretty average, in terms of line breaks, line break assists and tries.

He’s a different player than many will remember him.

Has bulked up a lot, not as quick as he used to be and not as twinkle toed. Considerably more direct as well. He’d be playing 12 or 15.

A Brad Thorn preseason could completely change the frame tho, to more SH specific from the bigger NH bodies

The back half of this season he has mainly played 13 which I have always thought could be his best position due to his foot work and defensive capabilities.

I am all for JOC (James O'Connor). We could use some flair and ball play at 12. Could only hope that JOC (James O'Connor) could put JP into space and get away from crash ball all the time.

interesting. I always thought his best qualities were his speed and footwork and your suggesting these aren't as prominent now? So what are we buying?
