Reds 2020

If BPA and Mafi can't resolve their throwing at least one must go to give someone else a a shot. I like them both, favour BPA, but if they can't throw it's over.

Two of Australia’s greatest modern era hookers are living in Brisbane - Steve Moore and Brendan Cannon. I wonder if they ever get them in to assist - I would be, hookers and props have such specialised skill sets at vital times that I would be looking to get as much help as possible to evolve my game.

This isn’t about Brad. Honestly. My issue (and this has been a long running issue) is with management and it’s inability to land good coaches.

Look over the history of Reds in Super Rugby and pick a third good coach after Knuckles and Link.

Mate, if you're going to call for Thorns head, then pony up a replacements name. Just remember, QRU and RA are broke. QRU had to stand down contractors during COVID, so much so the Reds lost their Defensive coach.

So, who's coming to Balleymore on bugger all money with players across the country packing their bags and heading north.

Ha. I knew as soon as I mentioned letting the coach go someone would demand the name of the replacement.

Is that the standard that needs to be met to talk coaches? Only those intimately involved in provincial rugby coaching recruitment need comment?? Give us a break. It’s not unreasonable to review the status of the coach after 3 years in charge.

The stats speak for themselves.

We’ve barely moved forward in 3 three years.

Mate if you’re going to claim we can’t attract or afford a replacement you show me all the rejection letters! (Dont worry, I don’t expect you or anyone in this thread to meet that standard - it’s completely unrealistic!)

Who said any of that? I simply asked, who are you going to get on a shoestring budget?

Not sure I can agree with the narrative either. In a post COVID world with sport looking precarious all around the world and coaches considering what is important - Qld/Australia is not a bad option. If you were serious about it the current climate is something of a leveller and a buyers market. Do an international search that actually gets outside the Ballymore carpark into Europe, South Africa, Argentina (small group but unemployed) you would expect to find someone useful.

I just don't agree that we should do it. Thorn is our man at this stage.

It will be interesting to see what the Reds do with regards to his contract.

It's still very much a work in progress so whilst I would be surprised if they tried to look elsewhere, I'd also be surprised if they offered him more than another year. His previous contract extension was only one year and I can't see them doing more than that.

How quickly the narrative changes, very happy for our gracious blue cousins - but why don't you blokes focus on winning a second game?

If we lose more games Thorn is gone, if we get back to winning more games he will stay.

Not rock science. ;)

It's bizarre that you can't engage with a constructive post by someone who follows a different team. Always so much animosity.

Also, we're now looking for our third win of this competition, just like the Reds.

Because you played one good game, and it came at the expense of my team. It was awful aberration for Reds supporters.

Call me old fashioned, or soaked in “animosity” but I find it smarmy and disingenuous to have a constructive conversation with a Waratahs supporter about the future of our coach two days after.

As genteel and cordial as this forum postures to be, don’t you think it should at least try to maintain some tribalism?

I personally prefer QLD rugby to the Wallabies and wish the Waratahs collapsed and had to start again.

Is that right? Probably not. But I think that passion and care for my team will carry this sport much further than the patsy merry go round of pats on the back from opposition supporters two days after getting rodgered.

But if you demand that I kowtow to encouraging you putting pressure on Thorny, well then this place is just an autocratic echo chamber for you and your mates.

WhatsApp is probably a better medium for private circle work

I hope that’s out of your system now. Settle down. Braveheart’s one of the good ones despite being from too far south.

You must be disappointed though? i am less tribal and i was very excited by all the young prospects in the Reds side - but it is quite disappointing to see them fail to turn their obvious talent into wins.

As you point out - Queensland seem to produce most of the countries talent. So something must be up.

Also - you can't want to keep tribalism alive and also want the Tahs to fail outright. Doesn't make much sense.
