Reds 2020

5 weeks is about what I thought. Players just need to clean this shit up, there are cameras everywhere, rot like this will always get punished. I have never really understood these types of careless tackles given how drilled the players are.

It sucks and is dangerous for the guy taking the hit, let's the Reds down and it sucks for us fans, he played a sensational game, now he'll spend a quarter of the season running the water.

It was notable that in the post game conference, when Thorn was asked about his 5 tries, he immediately made reference to the tackle.

I’d imagine Daugunu is probably going to be doing a lot more running than just the water.

Would love to see Matty Faessler from Brothers get a development contract after the news about Ma’afu. Reckon he would cherish being in a professional environment.

Absolutely, he’s destined for the big time.

Idk about Ma'afu. Really hasn't played much proper rugby in reality. Played some Qld u20's and Aus u20's but has played only around 10 QPR games and didn't tear it up like some of the other squad members. Not denying he could be good, but definitely not Super Rugby ready IMO.

But good if Sunwolves can help develop him to be more Super Rugby ready....I am happy to see oz players who otherwise would not get a gig here get opportunity with Sunwolves...Dargaville another one....as is Jake Schatz

Related to Peter?

He went to Downlands. Good bushy backrower. Need more of them.

So did Mack Mason before he went to Churchie, and great young player called Mac Grealy.

Hell of a rugby school that one.

Anyone know the injury status of our props for Round 1? Will Smith, Hoopert, Fotuaika all be unavailable?

Rugby.com.au reporting that Hoopert and Smith are racing time to be fit for next weekend. No mention of Fotuaika so reckon he is no chance.

Assuming those guys are right, as is Rodda (not sure) I'd go something like:

1 Dane Zander
2 Brandon Paenga-Amosa
3 Taniela Tupou
4 Lukhan Salakai-Loto
5 Angus Blythe
6 Angus Scott-Young
7 Liam Wright
8 Harry Wilson

9 Tate McDermott
10 Isaac Lucas
11 Henry Speight
12 James O'Connor
13 Jordan Petaia
14 Jock Campbell
15 Bryce Hegarty

16 Alex Mafi
17 JP Smith / Harry Hoopert (whomever is fit)
18 Dave Feao (there are no other tights heads are there?)
19 Izack Rodda
20 Seru Uru
21 Moses Sorovi
22 Hamish Stewart
23 Chris Feauai-Sautia

I don’t envisage the squad will differ far from that.

I think Paisami will be on the bench, set to replace Petaia at 40-60min mark as they increase his workload. Paisami has earned his spot through his trial form, CFS was average during the trials..

I also think they’ll start Rodda and sub him early, rather then bring him off the bench.

Josh Nasser is another THP option, between him and Feao, neither are ideal subs.

Nasser had it over Bell when they faced off in the scrum last night. Scrummaging looks to be a significant weakness for Bell.

I don't think you can say that based off the scrum between them, Reds had one dominant scrum, Tahs scored a try off the next and earned a penalty on the last..

They're both pups as far as props are concerned, impressive from both to be playing in their first Super Rugby at just 20years old.
