Wonderful player, and I am sure he will be aligned somehow. Would be surprised if that's tomorrow though

Matt could be anything with some time in a professional setup. He very well could play his way into the Reds team.
I can’t imagine that the signing will be about that though.
Ponga to return to rugby? Does he want to play for the wallabies rather than the all blacks?

Ponga would be stupid not to wait till his Knights contract ends at least. It's not unfathomable he'll win the Dally M this year, he's only 3 votes behind Tuivasa Sheck currently, and it will be in his rookie year. He'll also likely start for QLD next year at fullback now Slater has retired. On the path he's on at the moment going a couple of years time if he still wants to change codes he'll likely be able to do a SBW or Israel Folau and slide right into a Super side. As talented as he is right now I think he'd still have to ply his trade in ITM Cup given he's said he wants to be an All Black and would have to play for a NZ Super side.

Can’t remember the last time a RA player signing with wallaby top-up has defected from NSW to QLD but surely that press conference would happen in QLD?

yeah this is worrying me greatly. I feel a mass exodus post World Cup and a a return just before 2023.
It makes sense for the players planning to stay to keep their options open. Depending on who does go overseas or retire, the values of certain players will go up immensely.
