Reds 2019

He’s nowhere to be seen.

Only played Union. Was the best player at the World Cup. Is in Brisbane.

If that is not an opportunity to sign a gun under our nose, I will never know what is.

Wasn’t he only in Brisbane because he was with the broncos ?
Pretty sure Daugunu fills the foreign player position at the reds

make or break game this weekend. The warratahs are vulnerable and I’d love nothing more then to end the warratahs finals chances with a reds victory this weekend.

However, If the reds fall out of the mathematical equation of qualifying for the playoffs in the coming weeks. I’d really like to see Brad Thorn do what he does best and blood younger players for the remaining games.

Pretty happy with the blooding of young players so far, I’d rather he look towards some of the Club Rugby stalwarts for the later half of the season and testing/rewarding some of them.

U20 JWC.will take most of the academy players overseas

My thinking Adam84 is Hegarty is not our long term option at 10.

Does offer the versatility of 10/15 so having him as a bench guy isn’t out of equation.

Matt McGahan & Carter Gordon have been great leaders for their club footy teams and if we are knocked out of the playoffs we should absolutely give them the shot to prove their medal at super rugby... if they don’t. Then their game will certainly do the talking during this upcoming NRC season and I believe either of the 2 will be the starting 10 come 2020 for the reds.

McGahan and Hegarty are both 26....

No way is Gordon ready for Super Rugby. He's not even in the Aussie U20s squad!

Ludicrus suggestion.

We should be about finishing the season as strong as possible. U20s I am guessing will not be available for most of it. Stick with the best we have and run with it.

Not ludicrous suggestion Reg.

I remember last March you were questioning if Jordan Petaia was ready for super rugby having a preseason of club rugby under his belt and look how his development curve went.

I agree we should finish the season with playoffs in mind but my original statement stemmed from this game this weekend being make or break. Brad thorns never been shy about playing the young guys. I expect some u20 names getting debut if we are bounced from playoff contention

And dispensation request has been rejected, Isaac Lucas won’t be with the Reds until end of JWC, Rugby Australia won’t release him

But, this weekend he is been prevented from playing because he goes into a JWC training camp, not representing his country, reds just wanted to delay him from entering the training camp by 1 day .

The camp is part of representing his country

It’s just the way it has to be, it’s about time the JWC was prioritied over super rugby.

super teams do similar things to their local premiership clubs all the time without batting an eyelid.

Neither has been prioritized over the other. What has happened is earlier in the season the super teams and Rugby Australia created an understanding that if a player plays over a certain amount of minutes up to the Oceania tournament, they would would remain with their super sides. If it was under the allotted minutes threshold then RA has control of the player during that period.
