Silly me, I meant we had to win when we play them next.We don't have to win in Melbourne, we lost there is round 2 so it's not possible. We play the Rebels at home in July, a lot can happen between now and then.

I still don't think finals are something that will happen for us this year. We need to be that team that takes it week by week.
Also I think the Stormers will bounce back after their disappointing tour and make Newlands a fortress. One win on tour and a loosing bonus point would be a good result.
I just booked in for my “Reds 2018 Champions” tatooo, I could probably arrange a group discount if you guys are interested
I'm not sure it's even that simple (read complex) for example the Brumbies had less wins than the Jaguars but had more overall points; no team even came close to the Brumbies in the losing bonus. (I actually would like to see the bonus points somehow take away from the team not getting them because too often once a loss is clear they can quickly turn into a bonus point loss because there is no penalty for the other team getting a try bonus point or a losing bonus point.)
I don't think we are going to win the conference, not by a long shot, although it is possible. I think if we play finals it'll be on merrit. Looking at last year the top teams were 14 & 1 averaging about 4.5 points a game, the middle teams (Brumbies, Blues & Sharks) were averaging 2 - 2.5 points a game (call it a 50% win percentage and a few bonus points).
At present we are right on pace for that 2.5 points per game, while we are yet to face any really hard teams we have faced the Bulls who beat the Hurricanes, and I think the Brumbies won't be a bad team this year (and I expect them to prove that against the Sharks, who themselves aren't a bad team).
Zero - good stuff
you must be an Actuary
I do agree away games are so valuable, particularly against South African teams; I'm not sure who you'd pick to play in South Africa other than Jaguars and Stormers (maybe swap the Jags for Bulls because travel).
Another thing I'd like to say is I don't think the Sunwolves are quite the joke a lot of people are taking them for, they have over 9000 injuries right now, and a team like them isn't going to have the depth like we at the Reds or someone like the Crusaders have, so expect a few upsets!
If I had to guess, I would expect the lowest scoring team to make finals will be around 40 points, last years raw cut off would have been the Blues with 37, and the actual cut off was the Brumbies with 34. But this year we are proportionally taking more teams (around 55%), we play an extra game, there aren't any really easy beats this year, and there aren't any more easy conferences in addition to only 3 conference winners getting a cushy ride.
Agreed, I think the Reds will beat the Jaguares, but I’ve mentally pencilled the Stormers in as a loss.
I'm not so sure about this,
...........
but it'll probably be getting a 1 (losing bonus point) pending a review of our performance against the Jaguars.
You're giving me mixed signals
Think I'll wait a while TOCC
Hahaha, managing expectations?
But I think a lot will depend on how badly the Storms get spanked by the Blues and how we do against the Jags. It's possible the Stormers come away from the Blues game a broken team, it's also possible that they end up emboldened by an unthinkable win or a gutsy loss. Similarly, if we can weather the initial Jaguars strike it's possible we counter attack and put on points (making Jono Lance look like Quade Cooper); alternatively the Jags could do to us what they did to the Waratahs.
How easy would it be to change to “Reds 20189 Champions” if things don't go according to plan?
5 laser removal visits should do the trick
should i also point out that the Reds are undefeated at home in the past 3 games. 'Fortress Suncorp' anyone
