I can think of one...

Reds stats this year.
* Most ruck penalties in the comp.
* Most yellow cards
* 4th most turnovers conceded
* Second fewest turnovers won
* Second fewest dominant tackles
I meant significantly better player on market. The above proves it's coaching when team stats are shithouse

Well, I suppose in 2018 Stiles will no longer be a rookie coach and if the team doesn't perform substantially better than this year then there will be no place to hide.

I'm looking forward to 2018

Taniela Tupou came off the bench for Brothers on Saturday, after playing 80mins against the Highlanders and only flying back that morning.. probably not the smartest thing S&C wise, but it's the kind of passion I like to see from these pro players.

.......and btw......Stiles' whole pro background is one of being a Forwards Coach.

One would have thought the above very poor heavily-forwards-related stats would have been an area that he personally would have coached in a superior manner given his specialist background.

However, as I have noted before here, Stiles' positive contribution with the Reds under RG and even as Co-Head HC was almost exclusively in the scrum.

The Reds' forwards work in unstructured, loose play in these periods was generally of an undistinguished standard, to put it at its most polite.

I'm surprised he was allowed.

Ironically would all those items be contact issues??? Where's our most rookie coach.

Yeah - but then you get into other areas like poor kicking, poor kick chase, dropped ball & poor counter attack etc and you have to say it is not just one of our coaches failing us.

We're not leading in those areas??....

Really? I can name a heap of Rebels, for example, who would improve the Reds squad.

Forwards: Hanson, Mafi, McMahon, Fainga'a, maybe even Timani.

Backs: Hodge, Naivalu, Koroibete.

They also have a few good young players, like Maddocks (fullback) and especially Uelese (hooker).

Reds were leading the comp for missed tackles for much of the year but ended up a semi-respectible 7th with a much better record over the last part of the season

Kerevi led the way with 27 despite playing only 1 game out of the last 5 or so

TSR, good comment regarding bad kicking. QC (Quade Cooper) was terrible across the board!, his tactical kicks were not effective but the funny thing was he never changed it?? I honestly thought Stylsie was gona replace him early in the second half. I really felt for our forwards fighting hard to win our own ball and to see it kicked back on a plate to the Highlanders??! I don't see much from QC (Quade Cooper) unless Hunt & Kerevi are along side as they seem to click. Congrats to Hewart on his Debut although it wouldn't be one to remember with the errors he forced but maybe it wasn't his time.? Jayden Ngamanu was solid with minimal time he had. Showed some early nerves but shook it off and got into it! Congrats Jayden and certainly hope to see more of you.!!

No more Reds games to worry about, if he felt up to it why not?

I have always thought some of these guys don't play enough rugby

I was praising him for his passion FP..

There are however plenty of reason why playing a game following 80mins in Super Rugby the night before, backed up with a 4 hour flight the next day isn't ideal for recovery. General fatigue increases the risk of injury, the more fatigued you're ideal body position may lapse and risk injury. Soft tissue injuries, with swelling the day following can cause your body to naturally overcompensate. Risk of injury to do with Tendinitia and Syndesmosis only increase with overuse, some of which Tupou has already experienced.

Like I said, great passion but probably not the smartest thing to do.. yes we need them playing more rugby, but not on the same weekend

Pretty good outcome for the Reds, 2019 was always going to be a bit of a stretch, now it's up to Ready to out his head down and work hard or be leapfrogged by Mafi... if it hasn't happened already

Moore does talk about 2018 at the Reds - I presume that is his current contract? He also talks of still targeting involvement at the 2019 RWC - so I imagine he will be looking for renewal with reduced game time.

He said he will play 2018 at the Reds and then retire which is one year short of his current contract.

I thought he was just saying he'd be at the 2019 RWC to watch.
