I am really unsure what to think re the S&C.

Thorn was known for his meticulous preparation. I don’t think you have to have a degree to be an expert.

But, on the other hand, it doesn’t hurt and Damien Marsh, as you say, had a track record of success.

If Thorn is to be success he needs to be able to balance being uncompromising of standards with sorrounding himself with good people who will positively influence the squad.

I am optimistic, but we’ll soon see.

People are also underestimating the impact culture and morale on match fitness. The players need to want to chase the ball in the 75th minute. I haven't seen players trying and falling in a heap at scrum time because they are unfit

Couldn’t agree more re impact culture etc. It could be the reason why Force players have chosen not to join the Reds but 100% of Reds Scrums in the 75th minute were with reserves on including whole Front Row and 1 S/R change

No, I’m really not. Attitude is of the utmost importance.

But that doesn’t mean the science of S&C isn’t aswell.

TSR, I can only agree, but there is something more than that here. Thorn is the new guy on the block - as far as coaching goes. AND he has already stuffed off the S&C. Look, there is a lot that goes on around a rugby club, and perhaps a shit-hot neophyte coach doesn't need support from S&C. But he does need support.

So I was looking at the Reds 2018 membership. I haven't renewed since 2015, but in that span of time the only thing that's changed is the price. You still get the same lanyard, 10% off kit and your seat.

I can't help but think that the Reds (and I've looked at other codes as well) need to step back and look at what they're offering a potential member because quite frankly it's pretty piss poor. There's no real benefit between forking over cash for a membership and just buying a ticket when you want to go to the game.

More importantly, using the "reserve your seat for finals" isn't really a selling point when it's been 4-5 years since that last happened......

Yes, I will admit that nothing happening at the moment that has me engaging the front office to buy seats for the coming season. My two kids are taking a lot of my time now anyway

A few years ago they were throwing tonnes of stuff in with the membership, there was that UBU shirt and the kicking tees and the footy's etc. The did a survey and asked if people wanted the membership prices held down or extra merch. The lower pries won out. Have to say the members hat is always dodgy quality.

IMO the bloke should never have been signed on a 3 year deal. His playing ability had diminished and age was totally against him. Compare him with the signing of George (who is older I think), one bloke brought little, the other brought his "A" game and personality with him.

He brought little to the Reds, on the playing field or anywhere else.

No question he duped the powers that be at Ballymore.

There is no question his contribution to Australian and Brumby rugby over many years. I do wish him well on his next appointment

Agree signing him for 3 years was dumb. Disagree anyone was duped.

greattttt so rebels have Hanson, Uelese, Siliva & Rangi.and we get Ready and Mafi. Now TPN is overseas. Hopefully we can grab Tessman back to QLD as a solid backup

As good as TPN is I would not want to sign him. I always think he is only one tackle and concussion away from retirement, not from missing a game. I guess this is the case for any player who laces up the boots but I have been very scared for TPN's welfare for a long time. Lets hope Ready can go back a couple of years and play as well as we know he can.

Is Hanson on the outer with the Rebs? It may be possible to bring him home. His oldest brother was just below me at school. Great family and he is a solid player

If Hanson is given a release from his Rebels contract it will be to go overseas, not to another Australian province. Cheika isn’t a fan of him, and he only has a few years left to make the big bucks anyway.

It seems to me that the Reds may as well sign up a young Qld hooker as the third choice behind Ready and Mafi.

Where they've probably missed out from the timing of Moore's announcement is the freeing up of cash that could have gone towards signing one of the higher profile Force players in a position of greater need (probably a prop).
