Interesting that the NRL and TEQ have just announced a round of NRL will be played completely in Brisbane at Suncorp stadium next year. Double header Friday. Triple headers on Saturday and Sunday. That weekend will be the weekend of Friday 18 May.

Oh. By the way. The reds are down to host the Tahs at Suncorp on Saturday 19 May next year.

This will be interesting to watch.

If we have to move it, why not do a 'Back to Ballymore' round?

again, because Ballymore is barely suitable to host club games.

If we handle this right, we should cover the cost of Frisby, Quade, Slipper and Hunt's salary for the next couple of years.

Seriously, the Reds shouldn't consider moving for anything less than $1,000,000.

Are we sure the QRU remembered to book the ground?

Yes. In fact the venue posted the reds draw on their own social media earlier this week.

The suggestion is that the Qld Govt agreed to a weekend in May with the nrl to work it out subject to venue availability. It was meant to be a broad announcement today but the nrl announced a date.

If they have already committed this to clubs then we have them over a narrow. Time to apply the screws.

Are you sure being something that can be bought when it entails moving the biggest game of the is a wise idea and sends the right signals?

The NRL and AFL certainly have enough $$$ to pay (buy) to keep the Reds away in some corner.

The spin that the Reds and RA need to be cautions of on this could also be that the NRL / QLD Government / Brisbane council hook up is far better for Queensland and Brisbane (image / economy / tourism) than a single Reds game and the Reds are not playing "team QLD state" rather just being self serving.

Ask yourself what would the Broncos / NRL do if there scenario was reversed? Forget your spin. If we’ve got the booking we’ve got the power. We can move / relocate but it’s going to cost big bucks.

Not sure that the NRL/Suncorp/the government are quite that powerless if they want the game moved Reg.

Having said that, it looks like the dates may have been announced a bit early. They are walking it back a bit at the moment.

Related question, how much did the aleague pay the Tahs to have the Blues game moved?

This is not just a NRL / Broncos standalone single game situation. Totally different scenario. Otherwise I would agree with you.

As I have stated. NRL were in the wrong. They are looking at dates and likely playing it the week before.

The government will pay for the stuff up, Kate Jones looks like a fool in this situation by promoting the NRL fixture without checking details, I am sure a bit of funding dropped in the infamous carpark at Ballymore will solve the problem.

What I would love more than money to the Reds is an assurance that the Reds get to open the new Townsville Stadium, it only seems fair, NRL stuff up our big game for the season so we should get to interrupt something the NRL and government cares about.

Knowing Reds management they will pay the NRL to move their own game lol

Reds should get a good crowd. Lots of confused leaguies.

I don't think there would have been any payment.

It is my understanding that all the home teams that use the venue now have an agreement that they get precedence for hosting a final.

When it seemed highly likely Sydney FC would host the grand final the Tahs picked a different venue rather than risking being moved in the week of the game.
